I pointed out that he is in a wheelchair as he is in a wheelchair. If he had 3 heads I may have mentioned that, who knows.

It is relevant as a means to distinguish who made the claim. I'm sure there are other scientists in wheelchairs, but I'm fairly sure most people would think of Stephen Hawking when thinking of a wheelchaired scientist.
