Fear of dying because of my views

RE: Fear of dying because of my views
I'm not fearful of returning there anymore - like I said I gain comfort from the fact that every person is doomed to the same fate, so why worry about it too much, it's not as if I'm being singled out is it?
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Did I mention I'm a time lord?

RE: Fear of dying because of my views
By far the thing which makes me calm about facing death, is that once I'm dead, it doesn't matter, because I won't be able to feel anything, I won't be able to think anything, I won't be able to... well... anything. I will cease to exist. When I ponder that sentence, and think about what it truly means, I really cannot find it scary in the slightest.

Now you can accept that as scientific fact, which it is. Or you can make up theories about 'life after death' (which in itself is nonsensical), based on nothing but mindless assertions and guess work.

In my imagination of what death is like, it is like Raphael described. A sleep without dreaming. The only difference is, you don't wake up.

Well basically it is non existence, and we all know what non existence is like as we never existed before we were born.

It's so obvious that afterlife believers should be embarrassed and ashamed.

i have no clue what non-existance is like ... and don't look forward to it. i also can't imagine knowing what it's like to have my heart stop pumping, brain stop firing (tho, i've evidenced this before) and body going into rigor mortis. i don't look forward to it, i know that much. if i'm lucky, i will either go quick and painlessly or just painlessly.

But that's the beauty of it. You won't know.

i know, that's my point, i was admitting that i don't know and doubt that anyone does.

Your muscles relax, you feel the last of your thoughts disappear in a haze of calm, you slip deep into a void where the thought processes that make you you simply stop and for a short while you are free. Imagine never waking up from that, imagine that the process by which you spring back to life and go on with your day just didn't happen.
Would that be so terrible?

You forgot piss and shit yourself Smile , now that is RELAXING!

@Taqiyya Mockingbird you're a pathetic little child, so full of insecurity that all you can do is sling around a lot of vile language, why don't you grow up and try to have a decent conversation, I really feel sorry for someone like you, living in a world of such frustration.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

RE: Fear of dying because of my views

It's okay to think about your death and be afraid. Brains are pretty smart things. Given good food, water, and good ideas, they usually take us where we need to go. If there were something unreasonable about your feelings, that they were a symptom of your brain misbehaving, that would be one thing. But I suspect your brain is just flagging something it feels important to work through. A sort of, "Hey, let's think about this over here a while." It's natural. Just don't let it become so obsessive that it gets in the way of other living.

I can't offer much from personal experience. As a Taoist, part of my worldview is looking upon life and the natural world as things that just are, and that just are in a certain way, and that way is good. I'm also mentally ill, so my entire life, post-Christianity, has been a mix of believing I will never die, yet also being strongly materialist in believing there is nothing beyond the material world. I'm rather complicated. I'm just trying to say that, while I empathize, I can't honestly say I've ever faced the same issues.
