Positive claims and atheists
|
Actually, I heard on the news today that it has been proven that Batman is able of flight, but not landing (meeting ground with a speed of 80km/h is not healthy).
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

That dude landed one of those squirrel suits the other day sure he needed cardboard boxes but I'm sure that he could manage that!

However, by the standard of evidence that atheists seem to require of me, they say that positive claims require positive evidence. Now, saying that believing in God is like believing in Batman is a positive claim, so I ask, where is the evidence? Believing in god is like believing in Batman because the only evidence that either exist is solely in the pages of books written by humans. A belief in Batman and a belief in your deity are equally valid for that reason. Unless... can you provide some other evidence for the existence of either? If so, please do share, but I won't be holding my breath. 42

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Now, saying that believing in God is like believing in Batman is a positive claim, so I ask, where is the evidence? Can it be said that the Christian God doesn't exist though? I think it can because once you define a god you then have something to work with. The CHRISTian God obviously depends on the claims about Jesus being true, and we all know how that ends. Where is the positive evidence that believing god is not a billion times sillier than believing batman? If you can even prove that, why would I waste time with your god? |
