If that's the best answer people can give then I don't know what to think. Blame it on something else and you'r in the clear is what I'am getting from that, people are to retarded to think for them selves ye we've been to the moon and back yet when we question the existence of God it must be some evil force feeding us this information because we are to stupid to question it. /sigh

I think you'll find it easier to reconcile all these conflicting views when you realize that atheists truly have nothing to prove and religious people have everything to prove, and most of the religious proof is subjective anecdotal nonsense with no basis in reality.

But just look at the response you've gotten. The atheists here want to explore and learn, as should you. The religious people want you to doubt yourself and take what they say unquestioningly. What does that say?
You really believe in a man who has helped to save the world twice, with the power to change his physical appearance? An alien who travels though time and space--in a police box?!? [Image: TARDIS.gif]

When people say things like this, I believe it is simply a defense mechanism against thier own doubts. It is much easier for them to believe that the suspicions raised about the validity of their religion are the result of some trickster than for them to actually reconcile these suspicions with their faith. They fear even entertaining that these supsicions may be valid, and to prevent them from having to actually think about it, they convince themselves that it is god's nemesis at work.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Christians who resort to that logic aren't very strong thinkers.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
