Can anybody refute my argument?

It does not require (nor even deserve) refuting. Stephen Roberts said virtually the same thing.
Quote:“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.” You see, when push comes to shove, they all fall back on the concept of special pleading best expressed as " My "god" is REAL but all the others are FALSE." Most die-hard believers can never see the irony in this position which is why occasionally they feel compelled to kill each other to see who has the better imaginary friend.
An interesting thing to actually perform, perhaps someday I'd like to try that out. However, it isn't an argument per se and generally lacks any logical premise or criticism. Furthermore, I won't refute it because I agree, don't get so ham-fisted with your argument.
Quote:they feel compelled to kill each other to see who has the better imaginary friendI'd assume that if their imaginary friends were all they are cracked up to be then one of them would never need to kill any other because their imaginary friend could get his/her/its smite on :L
Religion is an attempt to answer the philosophical questions of the unphilosophical man.

This argument is great because it can refute any religion. Hi Godless, interesting way to show the fallacies inherent in religious beliefs and root out the obvious prejudices one religion has against another. I simply ask why they believe what they believe and why they reject other Theistic claims. I've never received an adequate answer, hence I'm an Atheist.

Aside from the false cause fallacy, it reads more like an appeal to pitty. Religion is fairly "harmless" currently and can be a means for the masses to seek comfort and a sense of belonging in something bigger than themselves. It, historically, has been quite harmful. It currently uses it's position to influence governments and protect the abuses of children. I'd bet there are other societal structures that are more damaging in the modern era.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post
