How would you know?

RE: How would you know?
But then that wouldn't make you an atheist, would it?

I was as devote as any 'devote' Christian turned atheist. A title that more than one of you has claimed in our discussions.

In this sense of the word 'devoute' means to be unyeildingly faithful so long as it serves me to hold these beliefs. Once serving myself and my needs came to it's useful end my devotion (much like many claims to be 'truly christian') came to an end.Wink

I'm not questioning how devout you were. I'm just saying that once you decide to petition god for anything, you cease to be an atheist.

Why? He won't accept anything as prosaic as reason or evidence. He might if you told him you had a visit from an angel. Thinking

Honestly Pad, I don't care if he does or doesn't. I was genuinely interested in hearing the christian rationale for the problem I was pondering.

I know he's not going to accept anything I say. I'd be surprised if he did.

I'm not interested in that on this thread. I'm just interested in whether the rationale he responds with is enough to make me myself think differently.

It's yet to have an effect.

But like I said, I'll respond in the morning when I wake up. My late night session isn't usually when I'm at my cognitive best.

I lost patience with that willfully ignorant fool ages ago. His tiny little mind is closed tighter than a virgin's twat. To me,he truly seems incapable of critical thought,so I can't be bothered with him. Tiger

Well I'm not asking him to open his mind, just asking his point of view Tongue

Hey, Napoleon:

I hear what you are saying and agree that if God exists, no one ignorant of God and the wrongness of her actions should get hell as a result, especially when heaven is no possibility.

But as long as we are imagining, why limit your imagination to just heaven and hell? Catholics, for example, believe in a third destination called Purgatoy. Most end up there, they believe, and all eventually leave there and exit to heaven.
"If you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains (no matter how improbable) must be the truth."

-Or- perhaps "he" didn't accept anything you thought to be or simply labled as "reason or evidence."

Hence the qualifying statement: "Half my Life" rather than 'my Whole life up to this point.'
