I think the OP presents a reasonable question, but any answer is conjecture. I agree with Whateverist in the 'nuanced deist' position (I did not vote).
What I am encouraged by is that Obama has never openly invoked god as an information source for policy decision making. Although short of the mark, it comes as a breathe of fresh air compared to the god-poisoned atmosphere of his predecessor. If only we could get the whole lot to retire the speach ending "god bless america" bullshit.
