The noblest sounding sentiment can be taken too far.

Quote:About eight-in-ten Muslims in Egypt and Pakistan (82% each) endorse the stoning of people who commit adultery; 70% of Muslims in Jordan and 56% of Nigerian Muslims share this view. Muslims in Pakistan and Egypt are also the most supportive of whippings and cutting off of hands for crimes like theft and robbery;

Even barbarians "believe" things.

Fine, but I do not. 'Should' is a moral value which I do not share in this instance. My respect is earned, and may not be assumed or demanded.

So fucking what? Argument from incredulity AGAIN.

I have only contempt for some of the loopier religious beliefs and superstitions, and especially those used to justify harming/supressing others. EG treatment of women in some Muslim countries, male and female circumcision, suicide bombing and [any] war.

Arguments from incredulity take the form:

P is too incredible (or: I cannot imagine how P could possibly be true); therefore P must be false.
It is obvious that P is true (or: I cannot imagine how P could possibly be false); therefore P must be true.

These arguments are similar to arguments from ignorance in that they too ignore and do not properly eliminate the possibility that something can be both incredible and still be true, or appear to be obvious and yet still be false.

Never mentioned anything to be false though. That is why I first mentioned that science is limited to the discoveries we have made historically. More is yet to come (as it always did). I am still waiting for Hadron Collider results, which will open a whole new chapter or an addition to the beginning of our universe.

Science is evolving. A lot of scientist and physicists are using metaphysics to explore new frontiers and maybe one day the things we used to laugh at would be something that can be proven in science. Galileo did it, Einstein did it, and Amit Goswami is trying to do it but quite not convince everyone yet.

I could be wrong but I am always open to new scientific theories, it interests me a lot to explore something new and evolve from the old traditional theories. If there is something wrong with that then I am sorry to offend you it was not my intention.

Sonny, you will know if I'm offended or even miffed. Angel Cloud

So far I'm only mildly peeved by your use of use of common logical fallacies, and apparent inability or unwillingness to learn from them. Also slows down the process of establishing your credibility. (at least with me)

Well I understand we are two different minds. I am open to a lot of ideas and beliefs. You are not. Am I against you for thinking that way? Nope Smile

I know it can be easy for you to not respect other people but that is your attitude towards other belief systems. Yet to me I do not care much about trying to disprove someone because they think differently than I do.

I should have mentioned in the beginning that I am open to the frontiers of science. Unlike some people even scientist who believes that what they know now is the ultimate proof.

There are people who believes in the evolution of science and there is people that does not want to discover new things. I am open to new scientific theories. If that makes me illogical to you then, so be it. I respect your opinion, I welcome it.

Yeah, best not to take it personal, but learn from what a wise guy like pad is saying. I mean pad's taught me a lot about fallacies since I've been here, he knows his shit.

Sorry pad, I'll stop licking the rim of your arse and let you guys carry on...
