The Brain's Plumbing System

The Brain's Plumbing System
Quote:The brain can be a messy place. Thankfully, it has good plumbing: Scientists have just discovered a cleansing river inside the brain, a fluid stream that might be enlisted to flush away the buildup of proteins associated with Alzheimer's, Huntington's and other neurodegenerative disorders.

RE: The Brain's Plumbing System
This expains a lot actually. Neurologists have discovered a brain excretion system. The blockage of this system leads to a condition known as being "full of shit", commonly displayed by an unreasonable adherence to an ancient religious text. The only know cure is for the afflicted to pull his/her bottom lip over their skull and swallow.

Perhaps there is a medical way to cure religion?

Rayaan, you're young. Start working on it.

I think Rayaan is one of the rare few who would hardly change should he be "cured." If his easy going manner has anything to do with what he believes, I suggest he should keep it.

Awesome find, Raya. I was hoping it was going to be about making the plumbing work. I could use a little help with that.

The find is awesome, and I very much enjoyed the article. I was somewhat provacative in my initial reply and would be properly thrashed by my cousin if she were to discover my initial reaction. She has a PhD in neurobiology. In fact, I'm going to use this article to pick a fight; lovingly, of course.

RE: The Brain's Plumbing System
Oh, I love all things neurological (*cough* yeah, I have been to an open-brain surgery *cough*)! Really interesting find. If there's any progress in curing/making better treatments for Alzheimer's and other neurological conditions, I'm glad. Smile
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Hehe, I predicted someone would make that joke before posting this. Happened already in the first reply.

Awesome. More and more they're discovering that glial cells aren't mere passive components in the brain. Brains and nervous systems are one of the final frontiers, and they're right inside us.

RE: The Brain's Plumbing System
So basically they have discovered a potential cure for Alzheimer's and Huntington's, some of the cruelest afflictions mankind can endure, by discovering that the brain basically has sewage.

FUCK I love science!
