I have no reason to believe that is any more true than the statement "gods exist".

OK, you got him. Most of us don't just think Europe...

Problems with the bible...let me elaborate:
1) When science completely falsified the bible, the so called "creation scientists" made their appearance to put forward pseudoscientific explanations to undermine the integrity of actual science.
2) Verses can freely toggle between "factual" and "allegorical" as seen fit for the occasion.
3) Knowledge gaps in the bible? No problemo! Holy spirit to the rescue.
4) Internal contradictions. Well documented and too many to list here.
etc...etc.

Just to clarify your point 1, if I may: I don't think it was that science falsified the bible so much that science enabled humanity to grow up and learn about the reality of the Universe, its sheer scale and what makes it tick. It's the bible that got left behind, unable to evolve and thus survive in the face of our expanding knowledge. It's the main failure of the bible to correspond to reality. Just a subtle distinction, perhaps, but creationists and other literalists just love to play up the so-called conflict between science and the bible.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

There is no conflict, the bible is fantasy fiction. Argue
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

We know that and I think when push comes to shove they know that, but they really get off on playing the martyr card.

Bullshit. We all know it's "down under", ergo Australia is part of Mexico.

Oh for fuck sake,it was a joke Joyce, using hyperbole. (exaggeration)

OF course most Americans don't think Australia is part of Europe. However, from personal experience, some seem to think so*. Here,Americans DO have a reputation for appalling Geographic ignorance, but OF COURSE I'm not claiming that is true of most Americans.
