They should have all marriages be done by the state as it is done in France where they allow traditional marriages, homosexual marriages, and polygamous marriages as well.

Then the religious folk can have their own marriage ceremony with their religious center that would adhere to their traditional values. Christians I have met that lived in France actually liked this because, to them, it was further stating their devotion to God to be affirm their vows before their congregation.

If anyone spoke slander against homosexuals in public, they would be accused and found guilty of hate speech. On that same note, a religious organization within the confines of its physicality can deny that a married homosexual couple that decides to attend services is married, but only within that community (I think as of right now, they also have the right to deny anyone from attending service at least in the United States) In public, they must still affirm that they are in fact married.

If that sounds familiar, that is advocacy for the Separation of Church and State.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

Well... here in France polygamous mariage is not allowed, I'm pretty sure of that. But if you are french and you where married to more than 1 person in another country (before having the french nationality) you can make them come and live in France, even if it is polygamy (it's called "rapprochement famillial"). I think it sucks because 99.99999% of the time, it's muslim men married to more than 1 muslim woman and..... like all "strong" religious cultures, women are not considered as equal and are forced to marry men.

And since a couple of months........... yes! gay marriage is legal in France, at last! Even if we had a whole bunch of catholic morons and racist skinheads who protested during weeks and weeks, and even if the law is passed, they keep on protesting! It's now called "les veilleurs debout", some assholes who just stand in front of city halls or french parliament doing nothing, thinking it's gonna change.... for my it's like prayer, thinking that doing nothing is gonna do something is so fucking stupid...
Le futur de l'humanité n'est possible que via l'annihilation de toutes ces religions débiles!
Mankind's futur is possible only through the annihilation of all these stupid religions!

Why is gay marriage being legalized such a central issue for the LGBT community? They keep going on about how marriage is all about love... well then, get married! -No one can stop you. I really dont understand why they need the state to condone their love.

Surely there are more important things to be focused on? There are kids out there committing suicide because they believe that they are freaks and abominations, there are countries in this world where people get executed for the simple 'crime' of having sex with another consenting adult and there is so much propaganda out there, in our everyday TV programmes and in our schools, which dehumanize LGBT people and make them out to be little more than a joke.

There is even discrimination and misunderstanding within the LGBT community itself.
And why is the LGBT movement so obsessed with a custom (marriage) that has traditionally been so patriarchal and conservative?
Emma Goldman once said about the feminist movement:
"The right to vote, or equal civil rights, may be good demands, but true emancipation begins neither at the polls nor in courts. It begins in woman's soul. History tells us that every oppressed class gained true liberation from its masters through its own efforts. It is necessary that woman learn that lesson, that she realize that her freedom will reach as far as her power to achieve her freedom reaches. It is, therefore, far more important for her to begin with her inner regeneration, to cut loose from the weight of prejudices, traditions, and customs."

It's not just about love, it's also about benefits, inheritance taxes, insurance, being allowed to make medical decisions for each other, etc. There have been numerous cases of people having to pay inheritance taxes on their partner's estate, and recently there was a case where a gay man was not allowed to visit his partner in the hospital because the sick man's family would not allow him to visit. These issues could be resolved by legalizing gay marriage.

My personal question to anyone against gay marriage is, how exactly is gay marriage going to ruin my marriage? I mean, I hear from the anti-gay marriage crowd that gay marriage will destroy heterosexual marriage, but how, if two gay men somewhere else get married, will it affect my marriage? Is there only so much marriage to go around, so that if gay people want to get married I'll have to get a divorce? Is there a shortage of marriage licenses? How is it going to affect me?
