New details are emerging about the four U.S. soldiers accused of plotting to assassinate President Obama and overthrow the U.S. government.

How come this isn't a big story in the so-called "liberal" media?

Probably because America ignores white terrorists, despite them being an overwhelming majority.

Because the "liberal" media is cowardly and afraid of being accused of painting the fealty of the military to the civilian state in anything that could even remotely be interpreted as unfavorable night.

This is despite the fact that the right wing has consciously, systematically, persistently, and to a degree incompatible with a true civilian republic - successfully, exploited the particular mindset cultivated in American military culture to break the military's fealty to the civilian state and make the military a political appendage of a party.

I think the many fractions of Republican party seeks to create such a systematic biase in the military as to make the position of any democratic president as commander in chief of the armed forces nearly untenable. Not a military dictatorship, but a one party rule with the military as an integral part of its power base and as a soft garrantor of its hold on power.

The report stated that between 2005 and 2011 DHS expen "expects to contend primarily with adversaries such as al Qaeda," but also lists "left-wing domestic groups, such as the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), as terrorist threats." However, it "does not mention domestic extremist groups" or white supremacist groups like Aryan Nations and Army of God or anti-abortion activists, "which have previously been identified by federal officials as threats" and "which have staged numerous terrorist attacks that have killed scores of Americans."

Experts on domestic terrorism were "surprised the department did not include right-wing groups on their list of adversaries. ... James O. Ellis III, a senior terror researcher for the National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT), said ... that whereas left-wing groups, which have been more active recently, have focused mainly on the destruction of property, right-wing groups have a much deadlier and more violent record and should be on the list. My eardrums are still ringing from 2009 when they were split from the deafening sounds of right wing shrieks when a federal report dared to point out a spike in activity in right wing hate groups that could lead to terrorist attacks and recruitment of returning military personnel. It came to be considered impolite to pay attention to surges in right wing violence.

That being said that story was on the front page of Google News today, linked from ABC news.

They referred to it as "overthrowing the government" not "assassinating the President", however.
