My Defense of Christianity.

You being a Christian means you have faith in the God of the Bible. Answer me this: why does Jesus have to be human? Do you not have the faith that Paul was communicating with God Almighty through spiritual revelations of the mysteries of Christ Jesus as the epistles suggest?

Why so little faith?

There are letters written by Paul. So obviously a guy named Paul was writing them. Even if he wasn't, the guy who wrote it thought Jesus was God.

Ok..... Let's try this sloooowly.

-Paul thought Jesus was God.
-Paul never mentions Jesus being human.

My question to you: why does it matter so much what Jesus was (human/spirit)? Do you have faith in God, that he is real no matter what Jesus was?

Ahem, I believe that Jesus was a real guy as much as I believe that George Washington was a real guy. I am completely 100% completely freaking sure that Jesus existed. I have read it in history textbooks, seen it quoted in Christian and Non-Christian sources. It's not a extreme belief in my mind, it's a solid historical fact.

You dare accuse a Christian? You obviously have little understanding of us. Other books like John clearly describe a living, walking guy who was claiming to be the Son of God, so Jesus was God. He might have been communicating through those, that doesn't mean Jesus didn't exist.

No it doesn't matter. I am arguing because there is a misconception, Jesus did exist.

Just over 10 months ago I would have told you I'm a reborn Christian who wants to do the will of God by bringing heaven to earth. I was raised Catholic and then got 'radically saved' at 17 at a Pentecostal church. I went on a missions trip to Thailand because faith without works is dead. The money came from my own pocket which meant I went for 3 months without social activities which is rather important for a 21 year old. I actually know a fair bit about Christianity.

So you say Jesus' existence is a solid fact? Find me one person that was a contemporary who mentions Jesus. The NT can't even achieve this. Not to mention there's not a single author in the NT who claims to have met Jesus personally.

Where is your evidence? I'm sorry but "I'm fairly sure" doesn't even begin to cut it as credible evidence.

Jesus NEVER claimed to be God in the Synoptic Gospels.

No. You've got to stretch the word a mile long. Name me one. In St John's Gospel, which was written MUCH later and the church had time to form its theology, the divinity assertion suddenly becomes forceful.

Good Morning. I am new here and I am a born again Christian. I would like to answer this question you asked. Jesus had to be human because we are human. He died to pay the sin debt for all humans, so He too had to be one of us. In the O.T. they sacrificed bulls and goats as a temporary covering for sins, but as Hebrews points out, those sacrifices never completely removed sin. The blood of Christ will remove the sin and the stain it leaves.

Paul communicated with the resurrected Jesus directly when on the road to Damascus. He communicated with Jesus personally on several occasions. He also received revelations through the Spirit as well.
