I've never been a huge fan of the 'problem of evil' arguments. For one, they really only cover people who believe in an omnibenevolent god, which is pretty much just a section of modern christian society. It's almost a compliment to them that this automatically becomes what Atheists talk about when we refer to god. Most concepts of god throughout history haven't been good, and a great deal of them have been presumed to be rat-bastards. (Think of Greek Mythology)

The Christian god is so ridiculous and inconsistent on so many other levels, that the problem of evil becomes rather redundant.
