Afghanistan..troops out NOW!
RE: Afghanistan..troops out NOW!

Quote:Among all adults, 51 percent now say the war is not worth fighting, up six percentage points since last month and 10 since March. Less than half, 47 percent, say the war is worth its costs. Those strongly opposed (41 percent) outweigh strong proponents (31 percent).

Of course, the generals are calling for more cannon fodder to be supplied but I doubt there has ever been a general who didn't think he needed more men.

dlf, on this I agree with you.
Minimalist, I agree with you again.
Would that sane opinions ruled on this issue........but politicians have the last word.

I can see logic behind the "don't cut and run" argument, but people don't often realize that attacks like 9/11 and 7/7 aren't because the attackers "hate our way of life" or whatever, but because of western intervention in and occupation of Middle Eastern countries. Osama Bin Laden wasn't coy about this fact either.

What was the answer? MORE INTERVENTION AND OCCUPATION!

Now they are in the tricky situation of not wanting to appear weak and caving to terrorist demands because of mistakes they made decades ago.

Meatball,
Re; cut and run.
Don't you agree it makes sense to stop fighting a war you can't win?
Don't you think that it would have made sense to " cut and run " in Vietnam? Think of the lives on both sides that would have been saved.
Afghanistan is today's Vietnam.

This is true. But it would have (and still is) wiser to leave them to sort themselves out. No more western lives need to be lost on the issue. And i have almost always found it far easier to defend my territories than to attack other's.

Yeah you never want to "cut and run" if you can possibly win. We can't stop these terrorists! They are driven by the belief of a God and a reward for their behavior. I think we all know how powerful the belief in a God can be on a person. We have to find newer ways to combat terrorism and it starts by educating the young generations in these countries so that they think for themselves and don't buy into that propaganda those radical islamists spread. We can help fund schools and education but the western world needs to just pull out and give it a rest for a while. America has exhausted it's military. Some men are going back to Iraq for their fourth or fifth time. We can't do this to our soldiers because we are killing them mentally and sometimes physically.

You do sometimes... winning isn't everything... How much would it cost to win, and would winning outweigh the cost in the push for your final agenda?

Civilization revolution is freaking awesome... it is like MoO, + shining force... and made better than both of those classic games ^_^ I LOVE playing the Aztec! ^_^

Umm... back on topic... they have this super-cool auto-heal for their units after a combat victory and....

GAH! Back on topic: It is not furthering any American agenda anymore, and is too costly for the minute results produced. Sometimes, you have to cut losses and defend what is still yours, or else you will lose it all.

The wars just too expensive.

Lets leave, save up for a few decades, then go back and beat whatever army has arisen in the mean time with the terminators we'd have built by then.
