I came here to watch two morons debate about fairytales and I don't feel I'm getting my moneys worth.
If the tediousnous of this thread were to increase by anymore it'd tear the universe asunder.
But haven't you been reading? You are not getting a debate. GC has already chickened out.
Ah but was he chickening out of a one on one debate or a cluster fuck? Think about it.
To be fair I think this has been arranged like this on purpose. Grene makes an invite for a "one on one" debate with some well known theists of the forum in a thread where any amount of people can chip in. Then he points to his opponents going "Look, look how cowardly they are! They don't dare pit themselves against the whole foru- I mean me... :-)".
If he had seriously wanted a real debate he would have arranged it via private messaging and asked Tiberius to make a private thread only the participants can use.
This is chestpounding of the most pathetic sort, pure and simple.

Haven't you been reading? That is exactly what he has done - requested Tiberius for a one-on-one debate in the Debate forum where no one other than the participants can chip in. That's what GC has been consistently chickening out of.

Yes, I have.
This being the case why has he not simply waited for a response from Tiberius and through private messaging actually asked GC if he agrees to the terms as opposed to this rather undignified display?
What purpose has this thread served other than a platform for cringe makingly arrogant show voting?
You know what? I don't usually waste time with pre-pubescent upstarts but fuck it. I'll take GCs place. The debate will not be in defence of the Bible, it will be on the validity of Grenes claim that his bastardised brand of Christianity does not depend on the concept of the supernatural and if this is the case whether it can still make claims to be Christianity.
That is if he can stop masturbating long enough to unblock me and get his acne ridden ass into a private thread.
Assuming he accepts I will take great pleasure in this, I assure you.
(Someone reply to this so theres no possibility he could of missed it. Thank you.)

My understanding is that he does have a response from Tib and that he is issuing GC with an open challenge, i.e., one where both the challenge and the response would be visible to all.

If you reject that particular piece of bullshit why even bother to call yourself a xtian?
The resurrection is a fable in the Christian culture. You don't have to believe it happened in order to practise the faith. My former Archbishop of York (the second highest in CoE hierarchy) denied even the existence of the historical Jesus. He denied more than the resurrection. Would you call him a non-Christian?? Surely not. Let's get real!!!!
Actually, yes. He's no more of a xtian than I am. Xtians certainly do not adhere to the alleged teachings of their godboy. In fact, in no other religion is there a wider gap between the observable way they act and the principles they profess to follow. If you then also subtract out the silly supernatural shit that they claim to believe, what's left? Or more to the point, why bother?
Once again, thanks for putting me in the position of having to agree with the crazies on the board. I really appreciate it.

You've got it all wrong. The motion of the debate is meant to be:
"The Bible contains untruths, falsehoods and even deliberate lies"
This post is where the motion of the debate was clearly stated: http://atheistforums.org/thread-14612-po...#pid336363.
Godschild has said that I'm not a scriptural Christian. If Scriptures are that important to him, he should be willing to debate a topic that exposes the Bible to ridicule. From that post, you can see that it was he who first challenged me to a debate and he claimed I didn't dare to take up his challenge.
I started this thread because I wasn't sure which moderator to ask. I thought they might not like it if I sent a private message because I don't know which moderator is in charge of debates. Tiberius very kindly answered in post #10.
I was also hoping that by starting a thread and taking up Godschild's challenge in this way, I could force him not to flee. From my experience, Christians on the internet are always afraid of an open debate about the Bible. It's as if they know the Bible is the weakest and most vulnerable part of their faith. I didn't think he would dare to chicken out after I had made a big fuss about having accepted his challenge.
I have also worded the motion so as to be fair to him. I claimed that the Bible contained not just untruths but deliberate lies. That means I've got to show intention to deceive. I can't go the atheist's usual route of bringing up the talking snake etc or to show the contradictions because these may be genuine errors or the writer believed the ridiculous stories he had written. Errors aren't lies. An intention on the part of the writer to deceive is essential if I want to show lies. I was prepared to do it.
And then Lion came to this thread to say how about a group of them doing the debate against me alone. I even accepted that suggestion.
Despite all this, Godschild chickened out openly.
RaphielDrake will try to misrepresent the whole thing because he had a dispute with me on another thread and he became personal. I have put him on ignore and I won't respond to anything he writes. He's not capable of being objective so you shouldn't believe anything he writes about me.

Misrepresent it? Like I could. You could of easily sent a private invitation to all of them. Instead you made this rather cringemaking thread for... what exactly? To debate? No, you could of set up a private one by messaging Tiberius which you already knew as a moderator. To challange? Why do that in a thread anyone can contribute and attack your opponents? Why not message them quietly? Because you wanted to make a big thing of it. You could of done this quietly and with some sense of dignity but instead you decided to go "look at me! look at me! look at me!" like the pre-pubescent child you are.
This is utter nonsense. Bravado to boost your own ego and it comes across in every single post you have submitted to this thread. You even went so far as to boast you would take on four outspoken theists at once if allowed, which of course you knew it would not be. You went for the easy targets, the ones you thought you could handle that you knew no-one would side with. The reason you blocked me is I called you out in another thread you were derailing by being an ass and you didn't like how hard I spanked you for it so you ran off and sulked.
I've sent you a private message challenging you to a debate and usually I'd take your lack of response as a rejection and leave it at that but seen as that wasn't a luxury you afforded anyone else I see no reason why I should afford it to you.
Do you accept or not?
(Someone reply to this so the brat doesn't have the option of saying he didn't see this.)
