Whatever is in that book, is just the ramblings of these people and should account for nothing in our society which is very very different from theirs, don't you agree?
Why then are so many people from this society so hung up on this book?

I can't imagine how strange this book will look to people who will live 500 years from now! Perhaps as strange as the Egyptian book of the dead... and as non-representative of reality.

I would bet that has been said many times through the last 2000 years, what do you think.

It means more now. In the past, you could be killed for heresy. Now, there are counties that are not even 20% theist.

I see the problem you have with the scriptures above, why don't you try and reason them out, a little history would help you on this one, all in all it's simple. By the way I see no corner, I live with the Truth and in the Truth one is set free, not put into a corner.

Godschild, I have a few questions for you:

1. what made you choose your Protestant Bible with 66 books?

2. Which Church Council do you accept as legitimate for your Canon of Scriptures?

3. What basis have you got for rejecting the other Church Councils?

4. Have you examined and researched on the legitimacy of the claims of the RCC for their canon and the claims of the Orthodox churches on their even larger canon?

Godschild, I asked you 4 simple questions. You probably didn't see them. Would you like to answer them, please? I've always wondered why fundies are so cocksure about the Bible when they actually know bugger-all about it. Even my knowledge of the Bible is far greater. That's because I READ and I don't confine myself to the Fundy Imprimatur. Cool Shades

I refuse to discuss scripture with a hairless little kid who has no idea what scripture is. You call the scriptures junk, you get serious then you might find someone to argue a point.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I don't see that he actually asked you to discuss scriptures - just the basis on which you pick and choose them. Surely, you don't intend to use the scriptures to justify that selection, do you?

Why the fuck are you on this forum if all you do is avoid questions?

The little boy was the one who challenged me to a debate on scripture, I let him know what swords I would bring to the debate. He took a dive under his round table when he saw the translations I would use. Then he deflects his original statement with this junk. I use the NASB and the ESB because they are recognized as two of the best translations of scripture. If any of you had bothered to read what I posted to 'gk' you would have known I answered the question before it was asked. You guys need to get real and read what others post before making ---- of yourselves.

OK, I didn't know you looked at it this way. You can use whatever translation you want. Let's have a DEBATE. THE FINAL BATTLE OF THE UNIVERSE!!! Shall I create a new thread for us to debate in? What will the motion of the debate be?

I suggest this: "The Bible contains untruths, falsehoods and even deliberate lies". I will propose the motion and you presumably oppose it. Is that a deal?

Hi Godschild, my worthy opponent,

Tiberius has just informed me that there is a formal debate forum in AF. If you agree to the motion as I have stated above, please let me know and I'll contact a moderator to allow us to debate in that FOrmal Debate Forum. This will ensure that we can have a debate without other people chipping in which can make the debate very confusing.

Please reply as soon as you can. I have gone through the trouble of contacting the moderators and Tiberius has kindly responded with his help. Can I hear from you please? You will soon see that the "little boy", "the hairless little kid" (as you variously called me) is a mature knight, able to hold his own in a Formal Debate.

I remain, my good sir,
Your respectful opponent
