Apology

Just wanted to take the time to apologize for myself and on behalf of Chistians.

There are a lot of people that use the doctrines of Christianity to bludgeon people over the head. I am one of these people and constantly have to remind myself to stop arguing for the grace of God in an ungracious way.

I apologize to any of you that have been told God hates you.

I apologize for to any of you that have been treated as outcasts.

I apologize to any of you who have been mocked/looked-down-on because of a belief that you hold (or don't hold).

I went to a private Christian college (surprise) and a lot of my friends were/are atheist. I haven't treated them as I should have and I want that to change now.

Cheers,
-Jeff

Apology rejected.

And this rejection goes to the core of your pet theology. You think mere sentiment is sufficient to make up for your actions - it's not. If you are truly sorry, tell me what you've done to make up for actions.

Fair enough, but don't count on every single Christian agreeing with you, thinking there's a need for an apology.

Quote:I apologize to any of you that have been told God hates you.

Doesn't matter really. I would not get offended if someone told me that Gandalf hates me, so to tell me that god hates me, does not make me lose sleep.

Quote:I went to a private Christian college (surprise) and a lot of my friends were/are atheist. I haven't treated them as I should have and I want that to change now.

Then you should apologize to them, not us, and as people already pointed out, words come cheap, action is required. Good luck on your journey to change, it's never an easy one.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I don't know who I should pity more, the theist for beliving in fairiy tales? Or you for being so weak ,cowardly, and pathetic you can't even work up the nerve to call them, what they are............if you think this person, you're defending right now, doesn't have a far worse opinion of you than I do.................then you are twisted

The only person I see being weak and cowardly is you. Hiding behind your keyboard, filled with the bravado that comes with anonymity, you toss insults like a tough guy at someone who did nothing more than offer a misguided apology. You're more deluded than anyone that is the target of your derision if you believe your behavior has shown you to be anything but a spineless bully who thinks berating others will somehow prove his superiority.

Who are you (or your silly xtian friends) to judge us as outcasts? What justification do you have to label us as inferior - Your silly myths and fables about an imaginary sky daddy?

Don't assume you stand on a pedestal with the privilege of being able to forgive a section of a community who do not buy into your ridiculous beliefs.

The problem is... they (the theists) would claim the same and the result would then be (as it has been once too often) conflict - war - death - stupidity.

Do you want this?

RE: Apology

Meh. I understood crate's response. This apology is some warped sickness like a codependent girlfriend defending her partner after he's stabbed her six times, only in reverse.

It's like Stockholm syndrome as an aggressive attack strategy.

I guess it's the Christian disease. Atonement, combined with confusion as to what they're atoning for, who should do the atonement, and why they should do it at all.

You need therapy. You need it a whole lot more than I need (or want) your apology. And that's already in the negative. Every day that goes by, I like you less and less.

(and it starts with your username. Reasonable_Jeff. Reasonable in contrast to whom? Us? Other Christians? Oh how speshul. You think you're better than other people. Nothing Christian about that! )
