A phrase containing the words pot, kettle and black springs to mind
I was going to include that in what I said, however it's being over used and I thought better of it.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

My sorry opinion of christians arises from the very thing that defines them as christians GC. Nothing else is required or need be imagined. No lumping is done (people self identify as such) and no other negative thing need be implied. In fact, it is the rest of their personality which (for me...for some) absolves them of their unfortunate christianity.

That's exactly the impression you left with that church, and I would not blame them for believing such. Your hatred for God whom you do not even believes exist is nothing short of unstable.
I love the "humanist" proclamation under CoH religious views. LOL!

I think we all prozelytize to an extent. Why I find Christians' doing so offensive. Maybe just because they're damn good at it /sarcasm.
I was in a department store shopping, and a couple of youth approached me and stated they were "moved by the sight of me" and asked if they could pray for me (I'm physically handicapped, missing nine fingers.) If I didn't feel bad about my disability to start, they weren't helping me any. Truth, I'm not even conscious of it 99% of the time. But they thought it useful to point out that they thought I was a pitiable sight. (The DSM needs to be revised to NOT ro mental illness if it is consistent with common religious beliefs.)
Anyway, Christians and Muslims just have a unique gift for being offensive.
Granted, I'm so close to atheists on most things that this is my bias which prevents me from seeing atheist offenses, but I'd talk to an atheist about religion for a year and a day before I'd spend an hour stuck in an elevator with a prozelytizing Christian.

I label myself a humanist as well, but the truth is I like plants a lot better. I grok CoH.
PS, CoH - I just had that bed-rattling sex. If you're a good boy I'll tell you all about it on Monday and maybe you'll get relief by osmosis.

No shit! I hate that garbage. Think of all of their god's alleged creations that died to make those bullshit fliers. Not just the trees, but all the other living things that depended upon the trees for survival.
I was in a class the other day when the professor asked us to describe what they need to succeed. It was a small class, just eight of us. Anyway, three people said that all they really needed was christ. BARF. The next day, two out of the three that just needed christ to succeed called me with bullshit questions about our assignment. I guess I was christ that day, huh...

Why didn't you just tell them to call this "christ" of theirs?
You really can be far too compassionate Erinome

It's often difficult to know which is which, and hindsight may change even that.

I think it's safe to say that advertising is irritating no matter how it's done, and doing it in such a manner is doubly so.

I cannot disagree with that at this time.
