RE: Will Religion and Athiesm ever compromise?
December 1, 2012 at 3:26 pm
When I look at religion, I like to take advantage of the fact that I can look at them all from a neutral position. I can judge the good and bad points of them without a bias towards any of them. What's more, I don't even feel like I'm biased to say all of them are wrong simply because I have an open mind: if I look at a religious belief system and find reason to believe it's legit, I can go with it (heck, part of me really wants to find a religion I can legitimately believe in).
So I've seen some good things to various religious groups, but they do always seem to have a bit of an asterisk next to them. Their good isn't conditional on their belonging to a certain religion and often they get to be royal dicks with how they choose to do their good (which is exactly I ain't giving money to the Salvation Army). The theology itself, I find religious beliefs interesting to look at, even if I still think they're all hogwash. Still, not having a bias towards any of them makes it easier to examine and compare them on a more level playing field.

They already do....well the normal religious and atheist individuals. But I expect you are more referring to the nut jobs on both sides getting along. The answer is a resounding NO. The asshole religious folk and asshole atheists can't even successfully integrate into society or follow basic societal norms let alone deal with each other.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

If you're trying to say that the atheists here spend a lot of time talking about this stuff, you're right. However, consider if this were, say, a Star Trek forum. Would it really be a surprise if that were the primary topic of conversation?
If you're not saying that, then of course there's no need to read this post. Carry on.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
