To how I came to that conclusion:
First off, I guess everyone was suspicious when he started posting his extreme views on social darwinism - to then continue with the "masturbation" thrad.
He today made the following post:
(December 5, 2012 at 10:01 am)Vincenzo "Vinny" G. Wrote: All's fair in love and war until you can't handle the heat in the kitchen. Yeah, I mixed 'em.
Listen, I don't do things for people very often. I was waxing poetic because *I* was bored and wanted to try *my* creative muscles at something different. I don't know you from Marilyn Monroe and don't have a vested interest in saying anything of import to your person. Nothing you've said or done carries enough consequence for me to write more than "Happy Kwanzaa" to you.
Even your name, which is very...dramatic and congruently promoted in your signature, is just pleasant in passing to me, not eye-catchingly intriguing. I've never much cared about how you got to your throne, where your kingdom is located, whether there is a king, and why you are only queen in the summer. And who the hell is the fall queen, and which of the queens are cuter, and what will happen when global warming hits your kingdom and summer is all year round
I'm not curious about these things. Well okay just a little, but I don't care enough to show interest to you about it.
Or anybody here for that matter. Except Shell B, to whom I want to point out that one of the literary quotes from her website was spoken by one of the most devoutly and openly religious theists, one whose fame and legacy rests in large part on his theological leanings. Teehee.
But that's not even properly two lines, is it?
I don't wish those things on you. But you making things up, and then telling me to fuck off for your mistake? That was like dabbing the quill and putting it in my hand.
That was not a positive impression to make. And you didn't help yourself with the Hitler catcalling.
In which he outlined that on Shell B`s website there is a quote from a theist, whcih seemed to be a rather pathetic attempt of accusing her of being a hypocrit.
I then went to view Vincents profile.
More interesting - his profile pic - which had the following URL link:
Quote:The Steve Laube Agency is committed to providing top quality guidance to authors and speakers. Our years of experience and success brings a unique service to our clients. We focus primarily in the Christian marketplace and have put together an outstanding gallery of authors and speakers whose books continue to make an impact throughout the world.
I believe that out of this research I can conclude that "Vincent" is playing a double game, and has put up this account to pose as an atheist in order to make us look bad or to (in his wildest dreams) somehow "convert us.
He might deny these aligations, and frankly I find it amazing that he would be so ignorant to leave these obvious breadcrums within his profile besides his obviously disengenius posts.
I conclude that due to his dishonest intentions further discurse with him would be meaningless until he claryfies. There are no rules against such on this forum - but I will clearly not respond to any of his posts, because of the collected material out of which I draw my conclusion.
I want to outline! That I have absolutly no problem at all, with deists within this forum BUT - his obvious dishonest attempt to pose as an atheist - to me lines out - that he does not deserve the attention he seeks to gain here.
Furthermore I want to underline his continuing alegations against me of being racist toward Italians.
There is a widespread italian stereotype throughout Europe, which I find uphorent.
It is the sterotype of the mysogenistic male matcho who is incapabel of taking responsibillity.
It is a horrible stereotype, when one considers what a great culture and general country Italy is.
But if you want to find the source of that sterotype - you need not look any further than into a mirror - into your dishonest face!
Or at the posts you directed against summer!
I find this trend towards strenghtening the macho culture in Italy horrible, and even more horrible how it gained momentum under Berlosconi.
One only need look at Italian Tv where one sees things like these:
And a prime minister who called the german chancelor a unfuckabel slut.
Well at least she didn`t run my fucking country into a abyss!!!
Funny how you call me racist when your newspapers have headlines like:
"We have our beaches, You have Auschwitz!"
but well, discrimination and mysogenistic behavior seems to have become very mainstream in Italy.
But here you are at the wrong place with such comments!!!
I find the posts of a Annik, apopheonia, summerqueen and TaraJo - which are informative and wity far more interesting, and make them far more attractive then some bolemic skeleton with an IQ of 60 paraded through italian TV like a piece of meat.
And I hope that the reasonabel powers within the great country of Italy will fight this cult of machoism and mysongeny which came to rise under Berloscióni - which when looking at your posts also means - fighting oppinions like yours!

Quote:It is a picture of Antony Flew, a british philosopher who converted from atheism to theism.
Flew is mistaken, by the way. He claims he was "converted" by the Fine Tuning argument, which is an incredibly contrived and anti-scientific conclusion. Then again, Flew is a philosopher, not a scientist, so I can cut him some slack. At least he's not as arrogant as Plantinga, who believes that he knows more about physics than the physicists.
Although from an interview of his we have this "pearl":
Quote:HABERMAS: Do you think Russell, Mackie, or Ayer would have been bothered or even angered by your conversion to theism? Or do you think that they would have at least understood your reasons for changing your mind?
FLEW: I’m not sure how much any of them knew about Aristotle. But I am almost certain that they never had in mind the idea of a God who was not the God of any revealed religion.
Here he claims that Russell or Mackie didn't have the idea of a deistic god, that they didn't know about the god of Aristotle (a bold claim: every philosopher worth his salt has read the works of Artistotle). This is blatantly untrue. Russell discussed the idea of a deistic god in many of his writings. Mackie made explicit references to Artistotle.
I'm afraid that since he became a deist Anthony Flew also became a very intellectually dishonest philosopher, and this is a true shame. It also casts some serious doubts about the reasons for his committment to the deistic belief.
Vinny is a "neo-humanist," according to his religious views.
Basically, take humanism, the philosophy and ethical precept that essentially points out that good came before god; before there was established monotheisms or even polytheisms, humans were still not anarchistic murderers of all they came across and in contact with, that humanity is inborn with its various flaws but it is not inherently evil, and the claim that humanity can only be good with god is bunk.
Then, add in "all good comes from god, and when someone chooses to love god, they will learn to love everyone else in turn." That's neo-humanism.
Seeing how stupid of a philosophy what he follows is yet? It's basically saying "human beings are good without god, but you'll only love other people if you love god."

Quote:Do you study philosophy? The only non Germans I knew until now who Knew Habermas were French.
Nope, I'm only very interested in philosophy and science. By the way, the Habermas in the interview is not the famous Jurgen Habermas, but Gary R. Habermas, an American professor of philosophy and theology and Christian apologist. Who is convinced that there is evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. This evidence being (drum roll) the gospels.

Oh great. I read Popper, Lorenz and Russel, but banged my head against a wall when trying to understand Adorno and Horkenheimer.
So I guess your knowlege, since you know Jürgen Habermas (of whom I have difficulties to understand) is far more supirior.
