Cant tell if this is a joke.
I know the joke is of Roger Moore, but it got me thinking as to the act of not sharing in the same magnitude or even act itself of grief over this man. So I decided to look at the "other" side of the argument.
Sir Patrick Moore, like any person, especially of a particular vintage, was not 100% squeaky clean in absolutely everything (then again, who is?).
Quote:The presenter said: "The trouble is the BBC now is run by women and it shows soap operas, cooking, quizzes, kitchen-sink plays. You wouldn't have had that in the golden days."REF: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6634255.stm
"I would like to see two independent wavelengths - one controlled by women, and one for us, controlled by men."
"I used to watch Doctor Who and Star Trek, but they went PC - making women commanders, that kind of thing. I stopped watching" -- Sir Patrick Moore
There are other incidents to tell, but I decided to use only one as an example of the "not a nice man" side of the good sir.
Does this invalidate his contributions to science? No.
But does it enshrine him, by virtue of death, from criticism eternally? No.
