A guy woke up one morning and said "I'm gonna kill 32 people'. But, where he lived, guns were illegal and he could not get one. The best he could manage was a meat cleaver. He knew he might be overpowered before he killed anyone. He understood that short of learning how to make explosives, he could not expect to rack up a significant body count with the means as his disposal. Even if he goes ahead with whatever he can find, it's all but certain that 32 people don't die at his hands that day.

Why can't we address both very real problems simultaneously? Why are we supposed to ignore the more concrete and soluble problem which can be tackled in a matter of years to focus solely on the huge, vaguely-defined one which can only be solved incrementally, over decades?

I always consider people who scream as irrational nuts who want attention via appealing towards their opinion (which is based on belief an emotion rather than rational inqiery) on the basis of emotion.

I base my opinions mainly on facts. I have posted my opinion in one of the previously opened threads on this forum. I defended it and provided the statistics which lead me to have this opinion. And after people have read it they can choose to question it or approve of it.

What I will not do, even with my opinion which is based on facts and not emotion, is to go to every possible door - knock on it - and then scream my opinion into their faces with as much energy I can waste on screaming.

A year has 8766 hours.

31940 people in US died due to gun releated injuries in 2011.

258 of does were due to legal intervention.

851 were accidents.

19766 were suicides.

11101 were homicides.

222 in undedermined events.

That means 3 gun releated deaths per hour in 2011 and 1,2 gun releated homicides per hour.

If you are going to use every single one of these gun releated deaths to open a thread in which you try to debate gun control, you are nothing but a vulture exploiting tragedy.
And I for one, will be more interested in the number of rice bags which fell over in China in that hour.
The subject was extensivly debated, I posted my opinion. Others did so aswell, and even debated their points until the momentum faded off.
Only because the threads turned silent this doesnt mean that there is need for a new one, let alone that a new thread on the subject will regain the momentum for the debate.

If you would manage to compare the numbers with the numbers from the rest of the world, and then list one homicide per 100 000 people.

You would notice that the average homicide rate in the US is not that much higher and in some cases lower than in alot of other European nation.

The highest homicide rates are in south and central america.

I posted these statistics before. But you probably chose to ignore them.

That is you. No one is forcing you to scream, and at the same time who the fuck knocked on your door? No one forced you to read or respond to this post. And my understanding is that this website has an ignore option.

AND it still does not change the FACT that far too much gun death happens in this country. And I DO think the parents of those poor school children, or the firemen and ALL the types of gun death, suicide, and domestic murder and gang violence, WOULD WANT MORE PEOPLE SCREAMING!
