Well, it's different in that congress granted homeland security authority to strictly regulate the sale and purchase of that fertilizer..keeping databases at a central location......way back in what must feel like ancient history to some.
True to form...republicans, today, are seeking to peel back that authority..hurts business, ofc. Actually trying to break the act that took a decade to pass after oklahoma city....a decade after it passed - even as they try to scare the shit out of us with stories about potential islamic fertilizer bombs........
So I guess on the one hand very different, what with there being federal bills of transfer - but on the other hand the same..in that some people think that any regulation is bad regulation.

No point in arguing it, it wouldn't matter if they weren't different from each other in whatever sense CJ has in mind..the laws regarding each are different. If they aren't any different, perhaps the regulations shouldn't be either..and homeland security should have a central list of gun owners. Like it has a federal list of nitrate fert transfers, to check against state drivers licenses.......

Anything can be used for death. Eliminating the tool is a narrow minded effort that still never solves the root cause.

We didn't eliminate fertilizer. We just decided to strictly regulate it's transfer and monitor those involved at a federal level. One would imagine..particularly if they're "the same thing" that a similar level of federal regulation and surveillance might be warranted in the case of guns..if it;s warranted in the case of fertilizer.

Interestingly, private ownership of a firearm is allowed in every country on that list, and the crushing majority of our gun problem is just as illegal here as it is there.
