Chicago and DC are big on the list and they have some very strict gun laws. Nevada's almost untouched and their laws are remarkably lax.

Well, you're not a total loss, anyway. I fucking love Castlevania. I just put down Dawn of Sorrow.

Some states (and some countries) have success with their gun laws and some don't Sutr. It's a subtle but important observation, since very often the laws themselves are nearly identical, and yet they give wildly divergent returns (and only if we go with the myopic view of assault -with a gun-, homicide -with a gun -). Some gun laws appear to have a negative correlation with rates of assault or homicide. I'd chalk this up to countries that have have other issues -that just so happen to include gun laws-. I've seen "gun nuts" point at this and say "see, take away the guns and criminals will run rampant" - which is nonsense....but maybe I'm just not the kind of gun nut that sort of shit appeals to.

I've noticed that. You have places like Japan with strict gun laws that have virtually no crime (I've heard many sources state that knives remain a problem--Akihabara massacre is a good example). And in other places like the UK, Australia, and most places in the US, strict gun laws don't work (note that the UK has been found to change murder rates to promote tourism in the past. Also note that the way they record crimes makes it seem like there is even less crime than there is). I think that the adverse effects of gun control tend to outweigh the positive ones. At least in our country. If I was Japanese, I would realize that there would be no reason for my country to change it's current laws. What's always got me is that Japan has little to no black market firearm dealing. I suppose the Yakuza are more honorable than the criminals in other countries.

I have rarely heard an Australian, or anyone from the UK, say that their gun control methods have been a bad idea. There are a few exceptions, but in general it seems like they tend to be mortified by our lack of it.

Quote:WASHINGTON (AP) - The United States suffers far more violent deaths than any other wealthy nation, due in part to the widespread possession of firearms and the practice of storing them at home in a place that is often unlocked, according to a report released Wednesday by two of the nation's leading health research institutions.

Really? I've heard the opposite. Plus I've seen the statistics.

Where in the first world has gun violence increased after implementation of gun control?

Oh please do show me the statistics showing people from the UK disliking strict gun control methods. Being from the UK and knowing people from the UK, I would be very interested.
