All Hail the Second Amendment
RE: All Hail the Second Amendment
Another, 'previously', law abiding citizen brandishing a gun to help settle a dispute:

Quote: A Lawrence County man is facing charges after he allegedly put a gun to a snow plow driver’s head who pushed some snow into his yard.

I'm fine with gun ownership for home protection, but I don't agree with citizens running about town with them.

Not just around town, seeing as a surprising number of shooting deaths occur when a friend/family member accidentally shoot themselves or someone else in the home where the guns are kept (but not properly secured).
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I am well protected at home and when I am out in town. I carry concealed in public everyday. I refuse to be a victim to some piece of shit that wants to hurt me or my loved ones.

In the case of US gun ownership:
Carrying a gun increases your chance of being shot in an assault by 4.5 times.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2759797/
Having a gun in the house roughly doubles your chance of dying by homicide.
Guns are very useful in committing suicide.
Being a male in a house with a gun increases your chance of dying by successful suicide by 10.4 times.
You are 31 times more likely to succeed in suicide using a gun compared to other methods.
http://aje.oxfordjournals.org/content/160/10/929.full

Before I knew this, I used to be pro gun control. I believed that the arguments for personal protection from crime or government were not as compelling as my fear of being shot by some random gun nut in public.
But being in favor of a lower world population and a believer in natural selection against stupidity I now think everyone who wants a gun should have it. It is only a matter of time before they or one of their children kills themselves.
I think the people who don't believe statistics derived from objectively collected data are the same people who think they can beat the odds at casinos. They would be the mathematically otherly abled (that's politically correct for maths crippled.) If I have to trade off giving up my purse to a mugger for reducing the chances of my dying by violence as cited above,I'll give up the handbag. It's probably a fake anyway.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat? Huh

You're missing the point. Carrying a concealed weapon may make you feel safer, but it won't help a bit if someone wants to walk up to you and blow you away. Real life doesn't allow you to respawn a block over in order to run back and try to get the bastard back.

Time and again we see people get carried away with a sense of false bravado because they are carrying a weapon, when without the weapon there is little chance of escalation (Zimmerman, jackass in Jax, dipshit in movie theater, man upset about snow in his yard). These people were NRA poster children right up to the moment before they brandished their gun. You and others walking in public with loaded guns doesn't protect anyone from lunatics, it only increases the chances of some 'tragic unfortunate gun related death'.

Sorry but I will continue to carry. You can choose not to if you want to and that's fine with me. I AM safer with it. I have military training and have scored very high in sniper competitions. I know when to use it when not to and am an expert with a pistol and rifle.
I don't have a false sense of bravado. I avoid questionable situations. I use tact in my life. However if a situation presents itself and I can't retreat the gun is there and it will solve the problem.

I suppose we should be happy but...

Empty your fucking gun into a car load of teenagers because you don't like their music, kill one, and watch as a jury can't decide if you are guilty of murder.

I guess the fact that the murdering fuck's life is ruined is something.....

http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/15/justice/fl...?hpt=hp_t1

Quote:Jacksonville, Florida (CNN) -- A jury on Saturday night convicted a Florida man on four charges related to his shooting into an SUV full of teenagers during an argument over loud music, but could not decide on the most serious charge -- murder.

Michael Dunn was found guilty on four charges, including three for attempted second-degree murder, which could land him behind bars for decades. Yet there was no verdict on the first-degree murder charge tied to the death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

Such is "justice" in fucking Florida.
