UPDATE: 4-year-old shot through leg when mother's gun falls out of holster

Troopers wrote that the fired round struck the child "just above the knee then exited his leg and lodged in the trim of the building."

Not only is Michael C. Reyes prohibited from having a gun, the Toledo man charged with accidentally shooting his 3-year-old daughter Saturday is legally blind, court records show.

Reyes, 27, of 749 Parker Ave. is to be arraigned this morning in Toledo Municipal Court on charges of having weapons while under disability and negligent assault in the shooting of Kaylee Reyes. The toddler was in serious condition Sunday in the pediatric intensive care unit at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

According to court documents, Reyes told police “he had a handgun in his possession when it discharged and struck his 3-year-old daughter” inside 533 Prouty Ave.

So I imagine he thought he heard a gun?

A 27-year-old man was rushed to a hospital Sunday evening after an accidental shooting was reported outside of Amboy.

The man was walking near a creek when he apparently slipped and fell, his pistol went off, and he was shot in the leg, said Clark County sheriff’s Sgt. Fred Neiman. The incident appears to have been accidental, Neiman added.

On Jan. 17, Flint police responded to the 3800 block of South Saginaw Street to a report of a shooting. When numerous officers, medical personnel and a supervisor arrived, they found Tarence Lard Jr. lying in a parking lot with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Lard, 20, of Flint told police he was the victim of a drive-by shooting while walking through the lot.

Later on, police found a gun, and after speaking to Lard, he was charged with three felonies for allegedly filing a false report.

Bernritter says Lard is part of a growing number of people in Flint who shoot themselves and then tell police someone else shot them.

Jacksonville, FL —

A 14-year-old has been shot accidentally by his friend in Northwest Jacksonville.

The story has taken a twist tonight. Initially the 14-year-old told detectives he was shot by someone in a drive-by but couldn't provide police with a description. JSO later determined the story was a lie. It turns out the 14-year-old victim and his 14-year-old friend were playing with a rifle when he was shot accidentally at home.
