I know nothing of US table manners but English is called English for a reason ... it is derived from England, American English is just a cheap copy

I don't really care what our language is or how stupid it is to some people. I've never had a problem with it. I have a problem with the fact that we are forced to learn Spanish because of all of the illegals. Whether someone likes our form or English or not they should learn to speak it if they want to be able to communicate with us. I wouldn't move to Mexico and expect them to learn to speak English to be able to talk to me!!

You have a problem with your language - you're barely literate.
Isn't the 1st language of the majority in the US Spanish? Didn't you massacre the indigenous population (and coincidentally their language and culture) in numbers that make the holocaust look mild?

Bigotry aside, that would be fine except that this is a UK owned/run forum (albeit with a significant global membership) where you criticised one member (Frodo) for spelling "civilised" with an "s" (the way it SHOULD be spelled) ... I mean many criticise Frodo for many things but his ability to use the ENGLISH language isn't one of them, especially as he is a Brit!
If you use your own logic you should write in Queen's English (or one of the many UK dialects)!

Huh? I run a business in a town with large Spanish and Russian (don't know if they're illegal or not) speaking communities and never once have I felt the need to learn their languages to communicate with them. If they can't speak English, er Americanized English then they get one of their kids to translate usually. There is no official language for the US. If their were I would prefer English because I speak and understand it, but a Mexican American might think otherwise.

How is it cheap? America is a melting pot. English people came here but so did people from other places in Europe. In America we have differen't dialects too. Go to Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and then go to New York. You'll see many different words and accents. It has many different influences so it's not going to be the same. I can't even understand anyone from North Dakota and then those Texans...they really butcher anything that comes out of ther mouths.

No the first language is still English but Spanish is a close second. Depends on where you are at in the US. Some places in Texas are mostly spanish and some cities in Florida speak mostly spanish. In the heart of America it's still English. Some of those idiots call it "American" and they say stupid stuff like " we speak merican". They leave the A off of American because they are too redneck to say it. How am I barely literate? I am from America..not England. If I were from the UK I'd have a mustache and non shaved armpits and look lanky. What's up with those british women anyway? Every British woman I've seen is a beast. Yeah your people massacred the Native Americans. Remember...those were Europeans. They also enslaved Africans. I didn't massacre anyone and I can't help what people did a few hundred years ago. By the way...my grandmother was Cherokee. Not a quarter or an eighth but...Cherokee. Where I'm from people respect Native Americans and indigenous people of America. They don't respect Blacks or Mexicans and whatever they are a bunch of racist inbred people...but they do care about the American Indians. Most of the people in Kentucky do have Native American ancestry.
In Kentucky we have a HUGE surge of illegals because of the tobacco trade. In high schools in Kentucky it's mandatory for students to learn Spanish. Some of them only offer Spanish. When I was in high school you could choose between three or four languages but not any longer. A lot of businesses will not hire someone that can't speak Spanish either. Farmers bring in these illegals and put fifteen of them up in a little three bedroom mobile home on their farm and the farmers have to learn spanish to communicate with them.

Nice flair for the bleedin' obvious you have there. American? OR just a Brit dumbing down your comment so DLF can understand?
Yep,I've been to the UK,several times and love it. Last time I backpacked for a couple of months around Ireland and Scotland. The only REALLY obnoxious females I met were the odd young Americana princess at some youth hostels. DLF reminds me a LOT of them in terms of self absorption and depth of general ignorance.

Well, at least our women don't have to have the doorways widened or toilet seats re-inforced or have their lawyer and therapist on speed dial.
