It shows preachers talking about despising non believers, homophobia, beating women and how women are deficiant, hitting children, peadophilia being acceptable, hatred towards jews and christians and so on, the usual islamic hijinx

I know better muslims than these morons, luckily enough...so I refuse to see this as some sort of single truth about Islam in the UK.

Religious organizations are established by human beings to serve the interests of those human beings - and as deplorable as we may find them - some human beings are interested in those things.....so it should come as no surprise to see an imam or a pastor or a guru offering a product that it's customer base is willing to buy. It should also come as no surprise to see any of the above offering a dissimilar product to a different customer base.

I know muslims who probably dont believe in most of this stuff who are really friendly so i dont believe there is a single truth that can reflect upon all people who call themselves muslims but as far as the actual organised religion of islam is concerned what goes on inside the mosques does pretty much represent the religion itself

It's true that there is a lot of variation in Islam, but I think there is often a public face and a private version of Islam. The ironic thing is that the public version of Islam doesn't even look all that good.

Our problem is we package islam, like one could package christianity into one single belief system.
However, as we know, there are many types of christians, some more fundamentalist than others.... I'm sure it would be possible to find some christian preacher saying almost the same things as these imams.
Luckily, the fundamentalists are a minority... sadly, a very vocal minority. They're a minority in Europe, at least.... I don't know about the US, but when I read that almost 50% of the population believes in creationism, I can't say they're a minority.

I just watched the second program "Undercover Mosque - The Return". I went to the mosque that was the focus of the first half on a school trip..

So, you enable these morons by suggesting the rest in the Muslim community who don't think like this should coddle them. Bad idea. Muslims SHOULD turn on other Muslims like this and tell them to knock it off.
Penn of Penn and Teller, in his book "God No" gets it right. "Don't hate religious people, hate faith itself. "
Anything that suggests a taboo and claims moral superiority(and worship of a state, or political party) can have the same zealous end result.
What he means by that and Sam Harris would also agree, the liberals and moderates in all religions need to stop coddling morons like this. Christianity has it's nuts too. Pat Robertson, the late Jerry Falwell. And even political nuts like Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh.
ANYTHING that is sold as morally superior, or sells a utopia(be it about religion, nationality, political party) ends up in this zealotry because of of others coddling their insanity.
So I'd say to Muslims, we might think you don't need your god anymore than anyone else needs theirs, but at a minimum if any Muslim wants my support they can help by telling their nuts to knock it off.
Ignoring them wont make them stop.
