I managed to make it out of the bible belt without being converted, I really can't think of a scenario where I would convert.

That is where you are wrong. Let's say there are 100 Atheists and 10 million Christians living in a country. Lets assume, for argument sake, all 100 Atheists go to jail and 1000 out of 10 million Christians go to jail. By numbers, the number of Christians in the prison outnumber Atheists but relatively speaking, 100% of atheists are in jail while a measly 0.1% of Christians make up the prison population.

You just glossed over the word "proportion". I'm not talking about absolute magnitude of people in prison, but proportion of faith groups in prison compared to their proportion in the population as a whole.

Why would I want to be responsible? That sounds like a terrible idea.

I'd rather convert to Islam. Allah and Muhammad are far more bad-ass than that hippie Jesus bullshit. Also mosques are cooler than churches, They would teach me Arabic and they sing cool songs that remind me of cool movie intro's.
