Sinners cannot understand the Bible!

When Moses got the 10 commandents did it say that shouldn't kill another human. When his people arrived to their destination, what was the first thing they did? Kill all people that lived in that town, including children and women. It says so in the bible.

if that isn't contradicting then I don't know what is.
Shall I just say this isn't a contradiction.

You're reading the OT out of context. So that doesn't apply to me as a Christian. If I were a Jew maybe I'd believe that. As Jews don't seem to, I'd say your conclusion is irrational.

Sorry - you want me to go into all that? Why not just look up a concordance for yourself to understand it? It's not exactly secret or privileged information.

If the only way that you can understand the bible is to believe in God then you also must accept that the bible is the word of God.

Having accepted this when you come across things in the bible that don't make any sense or contradict themselves you are going to immediately come to the conclusion that you are not reading it correctly and the fault lies with you as you have already accepted that the bible is the work of God and therefore cannot contain errors or nonsense.

Your only recourse is to then contort your way of thinking to conform to what is written and to convince yourself that it does make sense when in reality, it doesn't.

When the mind is confronted with nonsense and the logical explanation is closed off to it then it must come up with another solution. In the case of bible believers the only course is to fabricate a solution in their imagination that agrees with the text, no matter what the text says.

This is why there are almost as many interpretations of the bible as there are believers.

Christians are testament to this fact.

Well personally I have never found anything contradictory. There is stuff I don't understand sure and I work that out as time passes. Like how is Christ fully man and fully God at the same time.. although this is post bible thinking rather than inter. There is certainly no requirement to understand everything.

I guess you don't understand life, the universe & everything Darwinian but that doesn't prevent you making assumptions? You trust in your worldview to live your life. You assume the pavement outside your house isn't going to collapse into a hole and walk over it trusting in your belief it's stable. So do I.

Assuming God leads me to live a certain way that plays out in a way consistent to what is written, spoken and lived out by me and other Christians. Assuming not God leads you to conclude that I'm foolish. These are both acceptable worldviews to me, but not to you.

I never told my children when they were young that they were naughty, I simply told them that what they had done was naughty. In the same way I would never call you foolish..

Oh so if I want to believe a virgin can give birth and the dead can come back to life I should just accept Jesus? Are you kidding me? Please tell me you are. Don't be talking about how the Bible is 100% right on morality. Morality means something different to everyone including each individual Christian. We don't need a book telling us what is "right" and "wrong" because each human can figure that out on their own. That type of mentality causes people to not be allowed certain rights. Such as gays not being able to marry or women not being allowed to have abortions in certain US states. It's also the reason that in my state strippers can no longer give lap dances nor can they dance totally nude. Also, Christians following what the Bible supposedly says about morality have also caused us not to be able to have casinos in my state and in certain counties you cannot buy or sell alcohol within their borders. I hardly see how any of those supposed "sins" should be considered immoral because they hurt no one except people who lack personal control in some situations. In the case that a person becomes addicted to gambling or gives all of their money to a stripper then that's their own fault and I don't see how Christians should "morally" feel they should make that their business nor should they try to take their rules to the polls to try to keep the general population from "sinning". I find that one of the most annoying aspects of religion...the fact that they are willing to make us abide by their rules even if we don't want to.

Hundreds and hundreds of contradictions are listed there, including some very important ones. And an interesting thing from you're own book:
1 Thessalonians 5:21
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Also Fr0do, you appear to have what i like to call: the refusal to discuss syndrome. As you refuse to discuss the rather valid points made by your fellow forum posters, one might be inclined to wonder why you respond to them at all, and even begin to be fascinated as to why you are posting here.

Simply, if you do not intend to be rational, in a place where rationality is held with almost sacred ambition: Either begin to be rational, or go somewhere where irrationality is not taken as an offense (or as a proof of immense stupidity).

Quote:2 Kings 2
11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

Quote:John 3
13No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.

We'll just chalk it up that John didn't know or simply forgot....yeah, that will work........
