Fuck the touchy, feely, people need religion to give meaning to their lives bullshit.
Religion is still necessary to keep stupid people from doing real harm to society.  RE: Do some people need religion?

No .... I don't think so.
It (to me) translates to .... "I can be a nice caring person without organised religion" "Spiritual" if you like...along the lines of Buddhism "The Universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest." G'Kar-B5
Buddhist philosophy helped me appreciate some aspects of science and allowed me to become more aware of the failings of Christianity.
Similarly, I know there are some mass murderers in Africa that stop when they have Christian experiences. I would like these areas of the mind to be considered more by science before preaching atheism as what people need.  |
