Trauma isn't the same for everyone. Individuals have different coping mechanisms, some of which are better than others at resolving traumatic experiences. People also have differing natural resilience. This makes what I find traumatic different from what you may find traumatic, but just because you don't find my trauma to be "traumatic enough" doesn't mean that I'm capable of coping with it on my own (not saying you're "dissing" my trauma, just explaining). Basically, trauma can be anything from being neglected as a child to living through a natural disaster, from being raped to being in a car accident. Anything that shakes one's sense of safety or trust has the potential to be traumatic. It's annoying that there's not a cut off or a set criteria, but it's really different for each individual.
