RE: Hugo Chavez is dead
I have a split opinion on him

I guess this is mainly because we live in times in which it is damn fucking hard to get unbiased accounts of what the fuck is going on.

I admire some of his social projects on the field of education and helping the poor.

I hate his company of Putin, Achmedinijad and Castro

I hate his conspiracy bullshit about "america causing the haiti earthquake"

I found it absolutly disgusting that the Bush administration tried to dispose him although he was democraticly elected

I hate the reports about journalists and oposition figures disapearing and being beaten.

I hated his antisemitism

All in all, I think that "good deeds" cannot outway "bad deeds" and despite his social reforms, I will always point to the human rights violations and call them out.
One never sees an american telling a native american "Yeah we massacred you - but we gave you democracy
A brit to an Indian "Yeah we massacred you in your millions but gave you a unifying language"
Communist to the russians "yeah we murdered millions but made russia a world power"

I'm sure the CIA will be rounding up a suitable replacement. We can't keep our noses out of Latin America.

I disagree.

Since Lula da Silva became president of Brazil and since the military juntas collapsed South america`s are no longer the US`s playball.

He was president in what? 2002? In case you haven't noticed we have been somewhat distracted since 2001.

What is 10 years in the history of a nation? We'll get back to it. We've treated Latin America as our personal latrine since the Monroe Doctrine.

That era is over, it is no longer possible to mess arround in the affairs of a democratic nation without causing a worldwide outcry and sanctions.

and in case you cant remember, the attempted coup against chavez with US support happened in 2002:

I guess it`s failure meant the end of south america being the latrin of the US

Wait.

Romney lost and Obama is busy disengaging from Bush's wars. Meanwhile the republicunts have lists of countries they'd like to drop bombs on.
