Why ask what is the atheists position on everything? Atheists have their own individual views on the death penalty and abortion, not lead by what 'our religion' teaches us is right or wrong. By bringing China into it and what is more common there is a problem in itself. It's more to do with culture than religion.
I personally do not think any court system is always going to get it right as they haven't in the past.

Death penalty is silly. Two wrongs don't make a right. Not a passionate issue of mine though.
Abortion? Each day you wait to get an abortion- the more questionable you are. If you wanna abort- do it as soon as you can. First trimester or you suck. Roe v. Wade shouldn't be overturned. It would be a mistake. Prohibition of abortion is much like prohibition of alcohol or today's prohibition of marijuana. Absurdist. Depends on circumstances too. A case by case basis. In cases of potential death of mother, abortion should always be available. In cases of rape- I believe the same. Rape can put an undeserved child upon the unwanting "mother".

How is this not admitting the truth? Genetically, both the baby and your hair belong to the same species.

You do realize that there is no universally agreed upon definition for the word, right? Any definition you put up would be ambiguous enough to include or exclude some things that don't want included or excluded.

I can't see how the death penalty can be a punishment as the one that needs the punishment cannot experience the punishment. Cutting off body parts is a punishment, executing someone is just a preemptive measure. (or revenge)

My hair has my genes, the baby has it's own. Why is that so hard to concede?
I thought you were having difficulty calling a fetus a human. Is my perception correct?

Its not. You are genetically human and thus your hair and your baby are genetically human as well.

Its not. I have no difficulty in saying that it is genetically human, as is your hair.

Its not. You are genetically human and thus your hair and your baby are genetically human as well. Nice try, but a hair can't grow a baby like a baby can grow a hair.
And what do ya know? A baby's hair has it's own genetics and not the genetics of either parent.

Why use the qualifier "genetically"??? Is a fetus an individual human or not?
Now that I think of it, what would your moral stance be on this?
"Do you morally object to a person who plucks grey or brown hair because it would imply that one color was better than another?"

It can if you clone it.

Same species, though.

Because someone here brought up the genetic definition of human. Unlike that person, I don't want to equivocate between two concepts.

No.
