I recommend "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace. Believe it our not I've read it twice. It's funny and sad and insanely insightful.
For SF, I recommend anything by Greg Bear - Darwin's Radio was a pretty good read. And if you have never read it William Gibson's "Neuromancer" gave birth to the whole cyberpunk genre. Other classics "On a Pale Horse" by Piers Anthony. Or if you want to go way back read "The Stars My Destination" its a hoot.
everything by David foster Wallace is great.
have you also read "Girl with curious hair" and\or "Considere the Lobster" (March 13, 2013 at 10:10 pm)The Germans are coming Wrote: everything by David foster Wallace is great.Plus "The Broom in the System" and "Brief Interviews with Hideous Men" Have not read the post-mortem manuscript though...I'm a bit reluctant to do so. He's such a meticulous craftsman that I'm not sure if it truly reflects his intentions. |
