Yeah, one time back when I still identified as catholic, one coworker kept giving me a hard time about how Christians were Christians and Catholics were Catholic, and that never would the two meet.

I was just at a loss for words.

Actually, I think he means that they will say you were never a true Christian (acknowledging that Catholics are Christians) because if you were a True Christian™ you would never have become an atheist, so you must have secretly not believed all along, without even relaizing it...or something like that.

Makes about as much sense as the "trinity," huh?

Huh, I guess that makes sense. They were really asking for it though. The theology professor kept emphasizing how we were supposed to question our faith to keep it strong. Apparently, I kept questioning well after the point that I should have stopped.

Funnily enough, they never even tried to explain this. We were given the phrase, "The Mystery of the Triune God", as if that was supposed to be enough for all our questions.

*Edited for great justice.

I don't believe the RCC to be representative of Christianity. I believe it to be heretical like the JW's and Mormons though.

Fundamentalist Protestants don't consider Catholics, or Mormons, or Episcopalians, or sometimes even other flavors of Protestant to be Christians.

It all depends on how you define the term.

My take is if you believe God sent himself as his own son down to earth to sacrifice himself (the son) to himself (the father) because bleeding on a cross was the only way that he (the son) could convince himself (the father) to forgive us all for being such sinful beings which we are because an ancestor of ours who was made from a rib ate a magic fruit after she spoke with a talking snake and anyone who doesn't believe this story will be tortured forever in Hell by the god who loves us so much and, by the way, this is very important, love is evil when the body parts are similar, you're a Christian.

HA! The neo-Catholic who's religion was founded by a horny king who wanted to start his own version of Catholicism so he could trade wives is so pompous as to judge the Catholicism of antiquity to be heretical. I had no idea it was possible.
