Well, supposedly, a bunch of stories were gathered, an authoritative edition was commissioned - and the remainder were ordered destroyed. If the storybook had actually been unchanged - there would have been nothing to destroy.

Allah says in the Qur'an:
ادْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ ۖ وَجَادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ ۖ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ
"Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided." [Surah 16:125]
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “The most complete in faith are those best in their character, those who are easy to socialise with, and those who get along with others and others get along with them. There is no good in the one who cannot get along with others and others cannot get along with him.” -Tirmidhi
Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Number 6307:
'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: “Truth leads one to Paradise and virtue leads one to Paradise and the person tells the truth until he is recorded as truthful, and lie leads to obscenity and obscenity leads to Hell, and the person tells a lie until he is recorded as a liar.”

So Christians and Muslims pray to the same god? Then why have they killed and hated each other throughout the centuries? They don't pray to the same god. Just like christians before them they borrowed authority for their god from a faith they didn't intend to share that authority with.

That's my impression. I'll bet if you asked the average Christian if they pray to the same god as a Muslim they'd say, "Hell, no!" Same goes if you were to ask an average Muslim if they pray to the same god Christians believe in.

Islam is a poor imitation of Christianity with a few details changed. If you read the bible and the quran, the quran seems very much like someone trying their best to paraphrase most of the books of the bible. Which, if you reject the supernatural, is exactly what it is. They both share the quality of being spectacularly boring though.
