It is not fallacious to appeal to authority, people do it all the time.

I nominate this post for the hall of shame, since this person, and the people that said yes to it don't realize that what I said is true.

Do you know the way a university functions? It is through each discipline mastering all the details of all the others, right? No. It is through appealing to authority. I am even granting that a university has some sort of special value in conveying truth, which is very debatable. A lot of the stuff that comes out of it is just politics.

This is not even freshmen level college stuff and you guys are getting excited about it.

I want to cry so hard because atheists are so brainwashed, another person said that "common sense is the same as empiricism".

They are brainwashed. They don't even have a 4 year degree in science or philosophy and they don't believe in God because they don't realize that science can't prove or disprove God's existence.

It makes me want to cry. I feel so hurt and messed up inside. I love you all so much. You don't even realize how much.

Seriously. I wish I could open your eyes so you could see what I see. The minds darkened by an unproven faith in science, a science that is rapidly changing. Most of you don't know who Karl Popper is, or realize how fast scientific concepts change.

I want to cry I am so angry at the person who taught you these things. Taught you that an argument from authority was a fallacy. I would break their neck, the person that told these lies and poured this poison into your minds.

The greatest philosophers and scientists in history have been Christian. The thing is, people tolerate claims like "an argument from authority is fallacious" because they don't want any authority in their lives. People accept it.

I wish I could take away all the lies out of your minds and show you what I see.

God hates it when people say "an argument from authority is fallacious" and a 15 year old reads it on the computer and thinks "if my parents say something, it is fallacious to accept what they say unless they prove it to me". God hates people that poison the minds of people.

I say these things because I want people to repent. I want them to leave their wickedness and stop lying. It is one thing to debate atheism, it is another thing to lie, or to be so incompetent in debating that you do not even understand basic terms like the nature of an argument from authority.

You are sowing rebelliousness and skepticism into peoples minds. You will lead people down harmful paths.

You quoted the same statement that I made, that has no errors, without refuting the point or even bothering to look up whether I was right (for the record, I am right, I know more about philosophy than you, I got almost straight A's in philosophy classes in college and I have spent the last 7 or so years after college studying philosophy and mysticism, I know more about it than you, I could promise you that).

Why can't you listen to people that are different from you? Do you think I humble myself like this and come to you, appealing in my emotions to you to get you to think I am better than you? Do you think this is why I post here, despite people ridiculing me? I care because I know the truth. I have seen it. As for the term platitude, I would rather say things that sound dull and trite that have meaning than say things that are complicated and witty to sound cool that have know meaning or spiritual value.

Insert 'I' instead of 'God' and you would be honest for once. And I see no problem with a 15-year-old questioning what his/her parents say.

Repent from what? Reality? We've gotten a pretty good picture of your worldview, and no thanks, (though I can't speak for all of us) we want to stay sane.
