Soul

RE: Soul
LastPoet Wrote:Really? What cavernous place have you dug that from? Seriously. Have you read what you wrote?

Sorry, I do not usually write well. Let me clear that up.

"The soul continues to process immaterial stimuli, although the brain will not use it properly. If there's brain damage, it doesn't affect the soul in and of itself, but it will affect the end output of the person. I understand why you make this argument though; Christians have a very romanticized idea of the soul. I do not because I don't even think we're conscious. I think we're dead after dying. For me, the soul doesn't function well after death or brain trauma or whatever. The soul needs the body for continued processing and output. If the body becomes damaged, the soul does not function well (due to the lack of proper use). The only thing the animal soul can do is understand immaterials. Humans get a small bit of difference in the soul, "universal knowledge" and "will". When there is no body, there is nothing that can act, even if willed by the rational soul. When the body is damaged, the "universal knowledge" and "will" stay; they are not a part of the brain, but the ability for the person to have decent processing or use of said processing has dropped dramatically.

The unromanticized soul is taught by nearly no Christians anymore. It's a concept called 'soul sleep'."

This is what I meant. If it's more confusing than before I apologize again.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

RE: Soul
What soul?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Quote:To understand the meaning of "5" and "6" and "30" requires a soul.
Does that mean you believe other animals have souls? Because a lot of the animal kingdom can understand basic numbers.
Are they also judged? Because there's a lot of homosexuality, rape and murder going on over there.

The proof is on page 1. Here it is differently.

Within the universe are Quantities.
Quantities are not material.
THEREFORE,
Within the universe are things not material. (immaterials)

The brain does not understand immaterial things.

If an individual understands immaterials,
Then it doesn't come from the brain.

Animals understand quantity (an immaterial).
Understanding quantity doesn't come from the brain.
Understanding still must come from somewhere.
In an animal's physical anatomy, there is not another substantial processor.
Understanding still must come from somewhere.
Since all physical organs have been ruled out, the only other option is if the person has a non-physical organ.
I call this non-physical organ "soul".

Animals have souls, but they are not culpable for immorality. A moral law is universal knowledge which is attributed to persons only. No monkeys go to hell. =)

Now I wish we evolved from monkeys, so I could argue this.
Anyway, that's a fine answer... Though I'm not sure about animals having souls.

So, your 'proof' of souls is a logic argument based on assumptions and presuppositions?

You must be a Christian or something.

No monkeys and only one ape, have to ask though..... why only one ape? I've seen chimps do some pretty wild shit...

Who said I deny evolution? I would deny that monkeys and people are the same thing, but not to many people make that claim.

Your "unsure-ity" about animals having souls really rests upon if quantity is immaterial or not. I'm pretty sure it is, but if you can shoot the argument out of the sky, please do so. I don't want to claim something is true if it is false.

All the parts in red are what I have problems with because they are assumptions or outright mistakes.

Now you're on the right track! Why didn't you just say so? I've been pursing this line of reasoning myself, but this is your show...so carry on please.
