For the logic impaired...

RE: For the logic impaired...
Sorry, that wasn't aimed sarcastically at you. More for the people that will inevitably come along with their "Oh, so you're for abortion?" which generally isn't the stance.

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

It's fine, I'm just being a grumpypants Wink thanks for the comic relief Kayenneh
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

It really doesn't matter to me if it's the woman's body or the babies own body. I don't think that's the central point of the argument anyway. A fetus can't live on it's own, can't breath, can't feel, can't think. The value of it is far less than the burden it puts on both the mother and future child of an unwanted baby.

A secondary point is that you don't really believe it's murder anyway. Imagine millions of people were being murdered in this country, what's your response? To post something on a forum? Stand at a picket once a month? Give me a break.

Up until the early 2000s and all throughout the 1990s, there were several cases in Germany in which dead babies were found throughout public parks in conservative regions all throughout germany. Not because abortion is illegal but because the social pressure against it and against giving up a child is so high in those regions that many young mothers who couldnt afford to take care of a child, simply left it in a park in the hope someone would find it. Needless to say, that most of the babies died.
The goverments solution was "Babyklappe" a box on a wall at every hospital in Germany where a mother could anonymously give her child away without risking it`s death.

For me the case is clear, the "abortion issue" isnt as much about abortion and the rights of a fetus as it is about parenting and the social situation of mothers.
Something which most people who call themselves "pro life" love to ignore. People who oppose abortion seem to think that being pregnant and giving birth are the only things required for the mother to do. And then sometimes even point out that "a mother can always give her child into an orphanage" as if this were the most easy and untraumatic thing for a mother to do.
I guess I would really like to point out the hypocracy behind being against abortion and at the same time condeming every single kind of social program which could exist - because it could be socialist. Aswell as the supidity behind oposing sexual education and cotraception which is meant to prohibit such situations.

There's still dumpster babies regularly in my city. It's so sad. I for one would give anything for that persons' trash.

I'd rather there be cheap access to birth control so we have less dumpster surprises.

Matthew 18:6 and whoever ensnares one of these little ones who trust me, it would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and be drowned in the open sea! 7 Woe to the world because of snares! For there must be snares, but woe to the person who sets the snare!

Luke 17:1 Yeshua said to his talmidim, “It is impossible that snares will not be set. But woe to the person who sets them! 2 It would be to his advantage that he have a millstone hung around his neck and he be thrown into the sea, rather than that he ensnare one of these little ones.

Mark 9:42 Whoever ensnares one of these little ones who trust me — it would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and be thrown in the sea.

Isaiah 13:11 “I will punish the world for its evil
and the wicked for their iniquity.
I will end the arrogance of the proud
and humble the insolence of tyrants.
12 I will make humans rarer than gold,
scarcer than Ofir’s pure gold.
13 This is why I will make the heavens tremble,
and the earth will be shaken from its place
at the wrath of Adonai-Tzva’ot
on the day of his fierce anger.
