If the birth of a child shouldnt limit a womans right to self determination, limit what she can achieve or put her into a situation where she is discriminated - then it is for sociaty to change and not for the law to force her to accept that situation no matter what!!!!This is basically what it boils down to for me. I would love to live in a world where there were no unplanned pregnancies, and abortion was only used in cases of rape or maternal or fetal health. But we aren't there yet.

By virtue of not containing sufficient neurological complexity to carry on coherent patterns. If it can't think our feel it isn't a being you mean? It would never have developed into a unique person, and therefore never have the right to be considered an individual?

To completly criminalise abortion and to thereby force single mums and other women who are incapable of affording a child into misery and thereby also their child? It seems hypocritical to me to insist on the rights of an unborn 3 month old fetus and to completly accept that this child might have to spend the rest of it`s life in poverty. But out of interest, let me ask: Do you support state funded mesures which care for children and make parenting easier? Do you support contraception? Do you support sex education? I honestly don't know, and Google brings up disturbing sites for me But contrary to a popularly held belief, the placenta doesn't block drugs from the fetus, it functions more like a sieve. The drugs reach the fetus, it just takes longer.. If the woman is sedated for the procedure, the fetus will be under the effects of those drugs as well.
I think it's about time someone posted this vid.

I honestly don't know, and Google brings up disturbing sites for me To be honest, a lot of the anti abortion side even here seems to be under the impression women have abortions like eating ice cream. Not that the majority of the time they're emotionally devastated by letting a potential child get so far in development. Anti-abortion twats need to realize that pretty much everyone is in some form "against abortion". The only difference is that the pro-choice side realizes that, sometimes just sometimes, bringing a child into the world is not financially viable, lacks quality of life, etc. It is a mark of evil to insist that most cases of pregnancy should be brought to term, as it creates the implicit assumption that most people are at their best supporting network for having children. A child should not be brought into a world where he/she is unloved or must live a much reduced to unfulfilling life due to health, finances, etc. Life is a gift, not a burden. Contraception and abortion grant the ability to sidestep that dilemma Slave to the Patriarchy no more

For instance, I'm all for abortion, but I would probably never get an abortion if I got pregnant now, even though it would be most inconvenient. When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
