That was Enoch. He "walked with God."

Because we know that humans have been around longer than 6,000 years. We know there was no 'first man'.

Quote:Faith is a step to knowing and knowing to knowledge, I do know God exist with no doubt, I have been given knowledge of who God is and what He's done for me. The reason I can not give you proof God exist, you do not want to consider it, if you decide you want to know God will reveal to you His existence.

Godschild, despite our doctrinal differences I think you would agree with this:

"Nevertheless the wicked, and also those in hell, are forms recipient of life from the Lord, but such forms that they either reject, or suffocate, or pervert good and truth; and thus the goods and truths which are from the Lord's life become with them evils and falsities." Heaven and Hell 3743

Yes, yes I agree. Despite our differences we love our Lord and serve Him for His praise.

I think I'll need some proof of that, you might check with Lucy, I'm sure she'll know.

If you only knew what I do, all I can do at this time is hope you will some day.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Oh... Do you not sin? What is your definition of sin? Do you believe there is sin? You don't think you have free will? Do you believe in no beginning?

I know this question is not directed toward me, but I have always been fond of the Buddhist stance on sin. The only sin is harming others unnecessarily. All other sin is invented nonsense.

Drew?

There is no such thing as "sin"....... only your guilty mind.

So the question goes begging.....

Just WHAT do YOU THINK you are guilty of?

WHY do you feel this way?

Why do you think grovelling like some base born slave is going to exonerate you from this guilt you feel?

Why should living and being happy be something that one should feel guilty of?

While I agree with you that harming others unnecessarily is sin, I can't agree that it is the only one. I know that it is no small task to convince someone of something that they are completey against, but I firmly believe in God and everything that the Bible says.

Romans 13:7-10
7 Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and import duties, and give respect and honor to all to whom it is due. 8 Pay all your debts, except the debt of love for others. You can never finish paying that! If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill all the requirements of God's law. 9 For the commandments against adultery and murder and stealing and coveting -- and any other commandment -- are all summed up in this one commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no wrong to anyone, so love satisfies all of God's requirements.

So you'll see here why I agree with the quote you posted, because it is in line with a favorite quote of mine: "Love your neighbor as yourself" "Love does no wrong to anyone, so love satisfies all of God's requirements" But according to the quote you posted, it would not be a sin to skimp on your taxes. Sure it won't hurt anyone, especially if everyone else keeps on paying their taxes, (most of those government officials are corrupt anyway, right?) but it is still a command from God, and disobeying God is of course a sin.

A sin is a transgression of a religious or moral law.. So even if you aren't religious, there is still moral law. Breaking that moral law is sinning. So are you saying that there is no such thing as breaking the law, moral or otherwise? Or are you saying that there is no moral law and therefore no possible way to break said law, and so because of this there is no sin? Or do you just personally not have a moral code to be broken?

And me? I'm guilty of all kinds of things. I've stolen, lied, hurt people, been addicted to various things such as pornography. Maybe you've done these things as well?? I know that everyone does atleast a few of these things and some do much more. But guess what.. since I was saved by Jesus, I don't watch pornography, I do not steal, I do not lie, and I try my very hardest not to hurt others with my words and actions. I was a bad person, and I'm not afraid to admit that, but now I'm not. There is only One to thank for that. Big Grin

I never said that living and being happy is something that anyone should feel bad about.. But I will say that when living and being "happy" goes against the commandments of God, then you should feel bad about it. Is it okay to go on letting those live and be happy whose enjoyment comes from beating or killing others? What if it's something "small" like taking some things from work here and there (they won't miss this stuff, right?). Is it okay in your eyes to allow them to keep doing that? Maybe we should ask the person who pays for the things being taken.. Is it okay to them? Or maybe to you its just okay as long as everyone does what makes them happy... If that were allowed, then I would not want to step outside my door. Who knows if on any particular day I may come across someone whos happiness is in drowning children? Then what would I do if my own son were caught by this person? Just say "Oh its okay!! As long as you're happy!"

Please.. your reply is ridiculous.

Quote:I like how you can so confidently use the "confirmation bias" as your defense.. I believe this is called "the pot calling the kettle black". In case your wondering, that means that you are doing what you accuse the other of.. another word we could use here is "hipocracy"

But don't listen to me.. I'm just a sexist, rascist, slave keeping religion nut........ You people are exhausting.

Do you put your faith in man alone? Even with all of the sin and shortcomings? Man is no where near perfect, and I choose to put my faith in a God who is...

So god is sinful by nature? (Oh, wait, sin =/= bad, it's just what god doesn't want. So the fact that god is predisposed to doing bad things doesn't mean he is sinful.)

self will is not in and of itself, sinful
