While the Bosmer racials are pretty meh in Skyrim, I grew to love them in Morrowind (and Oblivion to a lesser extent) for their sneaky, alchemical, arrowy goodness. As the mechanics in Skyrim are far different and are focused on always-on abilities and one-per-day powers (which I find I have rarely used in any of the TES games) and do not give skill or attribute bonuses... for me, selection of race has become more about RP potential than anything else. My gameplay style tended towards playing sneaky fucks that would just as soon put a poisoned arrow in your neck as look at you, so Bosmer I remain. Come to think of it, I've never played a Khajiit, Argonian, or Orc in any of the TES games. Hmm. Perhaps I should. It gives you another combat tool, which is nice... but I find myself using it rarely. I simply don't need it :X I rarely do as well. My victims usually are dead long before they're in shout range. Though I have been known to sneak up behind someone and Fus-Ro-Dah them off something tall. RE: Skyrim's been out a while.

I'd have to buy other Elder Scroll games to know any differences. David sold his before we moved in together. He really prefers FPS when it comes to games.

Exploiting your way up to level 30 from having 100 pickpocketing and 100 sneak and 90 speech, and moderately high archery atop wasted skillpoints from randomly smithing/chanting/alchemy/skill books and terrible quests (I have some 45 useless 1-handed skill)... and yet I have a dwarven bow. Level 35... dwarven bow. I remember on Oblivion having only using the autosave like an idiot. I ate a poison apple by accident and decided the best course of action was to sleep. It autosaves.. I didn't play the game for like 2 months I was so pissed at myself. (April 8, 2013 at 1:00 pm)Violet Lilly Blossom Wrote: I rarely use companions. Tried it for the first time on my impact-haxing mage... and found that they just increasingly annoyed me as time went on. Got rid of lydia at level 25. I like to play stealth I can clear most places without being spotted at all. If I bring along anyone they immediately charge towards the enemy and alert every fucker in the entire place. That and getting in the way of my shots, the doors and saying stupid shit every two minutes had me sick of them very fast.
See, I rarely play stealth. I just let the companion go in and do what they need to do and shoot from afar, or pick off the dead bodies until I'm actually needed for battle. LAZY! But effective in boss rooms.
Btw, worst "combined threat" experience I ever had:
The Honeyglow estate, I think - on a quest with the thieves guild to get Maven back as top dog: I traveled there and arrived by night, knowing there were mercenaries...and then a dragon showed up. But the AI didn't seem to know what the fuck was going on, so it was mass pandemonium and I nearly died twice trying to escape crossfire and other bullshittery. Yeah, race selection and stat engineering were an interesting mechanic for those games, and you could more effectively break the games too (100%reflect damage/100%chameleon/self-made spells, etc). Less important in skyrim. I rarely have need of the once-a-day powers... and often forget I have them Quote:Come to think of it, I've never played a Khajiit, Argonian, or Orc in any of the TES games. Hmm. Perhaps I should. Eyup. Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

I usually get away with boss rooms after a fair bit of practice. I never even used archery in Oblivion. I liked running in with sword and shield. There's something about it in this game I love. Dragons are another story but you can usually fuck around with a combination of dragon-rend and big rocks. That and fire resistance potions XD
The sword and shield are much more fun with the Nord. Not sure why. Could just be because I know the game now. She's fucking badass with them though, and I only made it to level 10 in one day's gameplay.
