Yeah. If you're disfellowshipped or if you disassociate yourself, the policy is that of no interaction whatsoever. Even immediate family are instructed to minimize or even avoid contact (this rule has fluctuated in the past; as far as I know, currently they're using the strictest interpretation).
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

For starters, I grew up seven-day Adventist. Almost all of my family have been going to this particular church. So, that makes me a christian-atheist.
Pentecostal. The kind where not having to stop at a red light because it went green was an act of God.

Such a level headed guy for someone who broke out of a cult. Can you tell me something about the JW's? I heard that when a group of them go around door to door with that little magazine thingy some of them are checking out your house for after the rapture. Is that true? I mean, what I heard is that JWs believe the rapture will suck out all the bad eggs leaving only the chosen here on earth. So heaven comes to us?
Well... this officially makes every time a Jehovah's Witness has come to my door a thousand percent more creepy and irritating...

When I was very, very small my grandmother sent me to sunday school "to meet other kids" and I remember being positively dumbfounded - I think it was something about the coat of many colors, when I was asked and related the story - in no uncertain terms as a story- and got a bunch of uncomfortable looks. It was difficult for me then (as it is now) to fathom why anyone would balk at a story, or an explicit mention of the narrative as such.
I'm the kind of atheist who has always been an atheist - and god wasn't "a thing" in my upbringing. I still enjoy the stories for stories sake - probably more-so when I was a child (I've read better stories since). I do recall really liking the pamphlets. Lots of nice pastel illustrations (I still enjoy the watchtowers presentation- had a childhood friend that apprenticed at one of the printing houses in NY, apparently).

Fuckers.
That upsets me. That a father and mother could disassociate themselves from their own son or daughter, their own real live flesh and blood, in favour of an invisible made up being.
How stupid are people?
Religious belief needs to be CRUSHED.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

According to fr0d0, I was an anti-christian, now I'm an atheist.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
