.....
I was baptized a Methodist when we switched churches... Does that cancel out my infant Christening or mean I'm twice claimed?

I was raised between Episcopalian and Catholic families, with the former probably stealing more of my Sunday morning sleep. When I became independently Christian, as an adult, I considered myself a free-agent Christian in the belief that none had all the right answers but maybe all of them had some. As it turned out, none had any.
I was raised liberal Catholic, though I myself was teetering on the verge of atheism by late preadolescence. However, I discovered Wicca in my early teens while researching magic (I used to write fantasy stories), and their version of gods as personifications of an abstract force seemed feasible to my young mind. From there it was a gradual evolution back to my initial skepticism. So over the course of my 20s I went from being Wiccan to non-religious theist to deist until, at 30, I was no longer able to keep pretending and finally admitted to myself that I'm an atheist (and deep down probably had been all along). It took a few more years to become a full-on naturalist, but that's just minor details by comparison...
Sexy apparently

I'm a no-frills atheist. Just plain old bewilderment toward the very idea of gods. But hey I'm fine with everyone else believing what they like. I don't think we're marching toward utopia any time soon so I don't begrudge anyone their religion.
My great grandfather came over from France and converted from Catholicism to become a Methodist preacher (minister?, shaman?, pope?) and that's the kind of church my younger siblings were dragged to after my father retired and I moved out. I and the other older siblings stopped going to church before I started school. I have no memories of going to church beyond singing "This little light of mine". I don't recall having to handle snakes or speak in tongues. So I'd say I got away without too much damage. ![]() When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
I was raised non-religious, by nonbeliever parents. I think my grandparents might be religious, but the fact that it's never come up enough for me to be sure should tell you something. I spent a long time just not giving a shit before a double whammy of realizing I was interested in this stuff and seeing just how rubbishy most religious argumentation is caused me to adopt the atheist label.
