Wow, that was even more feeble than I expected, and that's saying a lot.

Seriously, that's the best you can do? Couldn't you dig up some guy with a blog somewhere who said something advocating violence against conservatives and say "see, this compares to high profile conservative commentators who have their own TV shows or lead political action groups"?

The best you can do is, "Waaaahhhh, they're calling out our hate. That's hate speech to call out our hate."

No, it's not. Try again?

Which would be an unfathomably false sense of security through intimidation. There are scores of blued eyed prayer mats in the world. Not a criticism of your statement, just an observation of the hypothetical.

At least, it is according to Professor Ram Neta. However, it is not always anecdotal. I wouldn't have used that term. Now, that being said, population statistics are a little bit harder to fudge. Census is data really is not that bad, considering. It was a decent argument until the conclusion.

I had assumed he was pulling these numbers out of his ass Dodgy (especially the 'crazy people' bit, hehe)

But where he got his data is ultimately irrelevant... 0.1% of 0.8% is a smaller number of people than 0.1% of 80%. The occurrence of that 0.1% is the same regardless of group size. Possibly he's suggesting that muslims have a higher than 0.1% chance to be crazy (50% of that 0.8% is cray cray), but that's just projecting Smile

I would argue that he's allowing the media portrayal of muslims as a bunch of jihadist suicide bombing zealots to affect his perception of musselmen Smile High profile terrorism is a media sensation.

I am aware. But my bet was with someone that said it wasn't about Islam. Big Grin

I wasn't so much jumping to conclusions as just stating an opinion. I felt it was most likely to be Islamic terrorism because of the correlation of them being muslim. I'm sorry but a muslim bombs something I'm going to opine very quickly that it has something to do with them being muslim. I have very, very little "faith" in islam, I'm afraid.

But truth be told if someone blew up an abortion clinic and they were Christian, wouldn't YOU jump to the conclusion that it was because of their religion? Something tells me you guys would...

Just keep that in mind because if it ever comes up on here and it isn't definitively shown that it was because of their religious faith but their religious denomination had been known, you'd best not jump to any conclusions cuz I will call you on it. Tongue

Without a doubt.

Maybe they're just out-of-work neonatal care providers? They have a grievance.

Blowing up a specific place gives you a little more information. It's a bad analogy, given that what we did know was their religion, not their motive. With an abortion clinic, you know their motive and not their religion. Besides, there are plenty of atheist pro-lifers.

Yeah but it was the only analogy I really could think of at the moment. XD Give me some credit, considering I'm cross-eyed at this point, I'm surprised I can even type straight.

I would say that all political parties are, in fact, hypocritical. The ideals BEHIND those parties may not be, but the liberal politicians themselves, well, they're no more immune to hypocrisy than the right-wingers. It's just right now at the present time, the far-right have kind of devolved to a primordial state of corruption and/or moral hypocrisy ["We're a Christian nation! But fuck charity! You need to pull yourselves up by your bootstraps! That's how WE did it! Well that and slavery kind of sort of helped...easy to build a nation when you're not paying the people building it for you..."] that's pretty unrivaled...
