MY friend who lives in Newcastle is a baptist and is prett nice. We've been friends for years.
Other than that I'm sure there are loads, I don't care about personal beliefs unless they folk try and make me agree with them. Like Dragonetti says, a lot of prominant theists, especially from Abrahamic religions, just tell me i'm going to hell unless I give them money, and tell me I'm bad and evil for being somewhat rational.

Favorite theist(s)? J.R.R. Tolkien for his books. Sir Isaac Newton for his works in physics. My sister, because she's the best big sister ever!
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Lots of admirable Theists in history, mostly because there are so many to choose from. Pre-Darwin almost everyone was a Theist or a Deist. Galileo is very admirable both morally and for his scientific achievements. Gandhi is almost very admirable, I think people who trash on him are those who look for moral perfection in everyone. Pointing out Gandhi's flaws don't take away from the fact that he started the greatest way of dealing with political struggles in history. On this board I admire Rayaan and get along with A Theist.

Favorite theist is a personal friend who is the only man (or person, really) I know who deserves to be called a true Christian. He's possibly the kindest person I know, and is also one of the most insightful and hard-working, and self-improving people I know.
Favorite atheist is my boyfriend. Mostly because he absolutely doesn't give a fuck and tries his best to live absolutely without religion (which includes talking or thinking about it...sometimes I get a spanking for arguing on the internet...).

My favorite theist (non-ironic category) is an ex girlfriend of mine who- frustrating relationship behavior notwithstanding- is a kind and friendly woman who is possibly the most committed mother I've ever met. We're not together anymore, but I respect her terribly, and I'm always glad when we do talk.
My favorite theist (ironic category) is Ray Comfort, because he's by turns hilarious and the smuggest of smug snakes, so he's good for both a laugh and getting my dander up.

I guess the difference between an atheist who lives with religion and an atheist who lives without religion might confuse some.

See, if this was directed at me, this is a perfect example of how you word things so that you sound confusing yourself.
Even though I'm an atheist, like Rhythm I have a deep, abiding love for mythology and ritual. I appreciate it, even if I don't believe in it. I have many books discussing various or specific mythologies, several works by Joseph Campbell, I still own some books on Judaism, and several general works collecting or commenting on folklore, symbols, and lists of gods or goddesses. I participate on forums like this, and get into discussions about religion on Facebook or Google +. Hell, Rhythm and I joked about making a book discussing archetypes at one point.
David wants nothing of this. He knows enough about religion to have a grasp at references made in general, but doesn't give a fuck. He doesn't want to talk about religion, he doesn't want to read about religion, he doesn't listen to podcasts discussing it, or anything of the sort. He doesn't care about mythology or folklore. He finds it boring. He doesn't try to be ironic by hanging a flying spaghetti monster over our door, or wearing atheist "A's" or participating in protests unless secular rights are clearly being trampled. He doesn't want to think about religion. He doesn't want to hear about it. He even conned himself out of his family's Christmas dinner by being with me.

Many years ago (before I reached the age of reason) I was sent to church, there was a guy there who wanted to sell the church building, set up the church in a large tent and use the money to feed the poor. Of course the church elders didn't let him do such a useful thing!
