Are you a Libertarian?

RE: Are you a Libertarian?
I'm a registered Democrat, but I'd like to consider myself an independent. I did not want to register as anything, but had to to vote in the primary. 8 years of a Republican reign was long enough for me.

Here's a surprise, NO.
I think you get the picture!
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

I beg to differ. I see it as the ultimate liberty for everyone to have access to affordable healthcare. It does equal higher taxes, but it costs less overall than private healthcare. Case in point, UK citizens pay less for healthcare in their taxes than US citizens do, and every taxpayer in the UK has access to it, rather than the 18% of the US population that don't have insurance.

In a Libertarian society, costs could be further reduced by cutting down on the bureaucracy that wastes money. So, it's all a matter of whether you want to pay more (less taxes + insurance) or less (more taxes but no insurance). I'd personally prefer to pay less, especially if it meant that everyone had affordable healthcare.

The NHS works in my country (UK). It could do better, but it does the job required of it. I'd personally prefer to see the money pumped into more doctors and bigger hospitals instead of wasted on televisions and fancy decorations.
