Is there any God that a theist rejects?

Is there any God that a theist rejects?
Why? Honestly, why?

That's a fair question.

I think it's fair to say that theists go for the version of God that most appeals to them. If you believe God is super-loving, it's fair to reject a version that's hateful. It does seem to boil down to preference though. I have trouble seeing one abandoning theirs for one that sounds better on paper, or turning from montheism to polytheism because smaller gods are less likely to have contradictory attributes.

Remember, the God they already believe in is the one they've been praying to, the one they already give credit for their blessings to, what they feel to be an actual person who cares about them. They're not going to dump their friend to hang out with the cool new god who just blew into town. But they often will start to see that their god had a lot of the new god's cool attributes all along.

This seems like an appropriate spot for this little gem....

In my experience when it comes to Christians, a particular type of theist. I would divide them into two camps.

The "more sophisticated" Christians would reject the existence of all other gods expect their own.

The "less sophisticated" Christians would accept different gods exist, however they are "demons" rather than gods as such. Which is the view the writers of the New Testament take.

I have honestly no idea on which gods other types of theists reject, if any.

Didn't the romans believed in every god they ever heard of?

They do believe in one more god than atheists while joining atheists in rejecting all the rest. We have so much in common in the matter of rejecting gods it is difficult to explain their animosity over atheists who simply believe in one less god than they.

Generally, the faith their parents forced upon them as children is the one they follow. All the rest? Well they're not real because their parents and their parish priest says so.

Theism can be the rejection of some gods. Like wealth, power, health. Concepts just called something different in atheism.

I guess it would be nice to watch a Christian debate a Hindu in a battle over, say Shiva over Christ. That's all. I never see that. I think on some level theists probably feel a sense of commonality with the other theist in arenas like this. Almost like they're temporarily on the same side. But, ultimately, they can't be...right? I mean, there are huge differences between them. Each of them HAVE to believe the other is wrong if in no other sense than THEIR GOD is the RIGHT one. Right? I would just like to see a thread that was strictly for Theist-Vs-Theist debate. I doubt anyone would be willing to step in to the ring, but it would be interesting. Anyway, I suppose the smart ones would see this as a trap but, if their belief is the right one, what's the danger?
